Parramatta Stadium has put on hold it's plans to install new replay screens due to the advent of 3D television. Denis Fitzgerald agreed to give me this exclusive interview today.
The Ken :
So Denis can you tell Parramatta fans why there has been no decisions made as yet regarding the much needed upgrading of Parramatta Stadium particularly the promised replay screens?
Denis :
Well Doris and Pam couldn't agree on the new colour scheme for one and it was no use leaving it up to the blokes to decide and the second but most important reason is 3D TV.
The Ken
3D TV ? What has 3D TV got to do with a stadium upgrade for an NRL team with one of the largest supporter bases in the country?
Denis:
3D TV is the future Ken and we are hell bent on giving our fans the best that technology has to offer. Imagine watching a replay of Hainzy in full flight scoring a try in 3D. It will be like your right there. We will be the first Stadium in the world to have a giant 3D replay screen and we are not thinking of just one on the back of a truck on the hill but one in each corner so that everyone who pays for a seat can see it. Our fans deserve nothing but the best.
The Ken:
That's fantastic news. Just when I was losing faith I can't believe how ahead of your time the trust is. So what is the timeframe for these exciting new screens Denis.
Denis:
We already have them Ken. I was in Harvey Norman just the other day and bought 4 of the biggest ones they had. We set one up in each corner of the Stadium but then recognised there was a bit of a technical problem. The Trust couldn't see the bloody things from our corporate box. So what I've done is put them all in our box and ordered bigger ones. Gerry has told me as soon as one comes into the country that's at least 10meters high it will be delivered the minute it gets off the wharves.
