The Parramatta Eels Club is very pleased to announce Maika Sivo has upgraded and extended his contract to continue with the Blue and Gold for the next two NRL seasons.
The new deal means the powerful winger will remain with the Club until the end of the 2021 NRL Telstra Premiership season.
At 25 years of age, Maika made his NRL debut with the Eels in Round 1 this year, quickly cementing his position in the team and finishing the season as NRL’s top try scorer with an incredible 22 tries.
A finalist for the Dally M Rookie of the Year Award, Maika claimed the 2019 Ken Irvine Medal for leading try scorer. He topped off his incredible debut season playing for Fiji in the inaugural World Cup Nines tournament this year.

Would have liked to have signed him longer then 2021. But it’s smart on his behalf. The way he’s going he’s value is only going to rise more and more so re-signing another 2yrs rather then say 4 or 5 is a smart move

Think that is a bit much at the moment. He is worth 500K when he gets a bit more experience - he needs to be baby sitted defensively and the storm showed up his inexperience. He has done fantastically well considering how raw he looked in his first NRL game but still has a way to go to be a $500K winger

Contract increase and extension , well done to the club. Sorted for this year and splits up the main players so everyone you WANT TO KEEP are off contract on different years.

Interesting only until end of 2021, is that the same time that BA's contract ends? similar situation to previous contracts, I would say though this is the first domino to fall for the club, hopefully not too many fails.

Parramatta have announced the contract upgrade and extension of cult hero Maika Sivo until the end of 2021.
The NRL’s top tryscorer in 2019, Sivo burst onto the scene in his rookie season, helping the Eels make the semi-finals.
Sivo made his NRL debut in Round 1 and went on to score 22 tries.
The Fijian flyer was earning minimum wage and match payments earlier this season, so his latest contract upgrade is a significant one.

If we upgraded him for nexr year we really should of gotten him to sign on longer. Still good to hacve him arouund for a couple a more years.
Nah Sivos made the right call. He knows his value is going to rise even higher the way he's going, already ruled out going to Union so looks like he's here to stay in the NRL. If we signed him for 4yrs for e.g and he's on money less then what he's worth, we risk a Ryan Matterson situation happening. Also allows the club to plan ahead as all of our big name players off contract at different times.
