EELS CLEAN OUT FRONT OF HOUSE
The worst season in the Eels history has claimed more scalps, with a number of front office staff made redundant.
Channel Seven reported on Monday night that seven members of staff copped the axe as Parramatta’s interim CEO Bevan Paul and administrator Max Donnelly go about reforming the embattled club.
Chief operating officer Craig Beed and CEO of controversial networking organisation The Premiership Club John Chedid are understood to be among those to be shown the door.
The Club was set up by the Eels as a high-end business network aimed at fostering potential third party agreements for players, but its methods have come under scrutiny around whether those TPAs illegally skirt the NRL’s salary cap.
Also told their services are no longer required were popular media manager Hugh Humphries and digital media operator Sarah Neill.
ARTHUR TALKS HAYNE AND THE CAP
With Kieran Foran’s release from the Eels confirmed and freeing up around $1 million in the salary cap, Parramatta are gearing up for a serious play at bringing Jarryd Hayne home.
But coach Brad Arthur reiterated the uncertainty around the club’s salary cap in 2017 is still to be resolved.
Watch Arthur’s interview with Fox Sports’ Lara Pitt in the video player at the top of the page.
According to Arthur the NRL is yet to give a definitive figure on the amount of illegally sourced TPA’s that will count towards the Eels cap next year, but confirmed the club will go all out to bring Hayne back.
“We’re in a position to recruit. We still haven’t got 100 per cent clarity around our salary cap position and that might be another week away,” Arthur told The Matty Johns Show.
“So until then it’s hard to come up with a plan.
“I’ve got a good relationship with Jarryd. We’d love to have him back at the club. If he wants to play for Parramatta we’re going to try and do what we can.
“But at the end of the day it’s really important that Jarryd makes his decision on does he want to play rugby league or rugby union.
“And then when he makes that decision hopefully we’re in a position to nut something out with him.”

BA was spot on; Hayne has to decide if wants to play union or league. If his heart is in league then good; if not then don't play. And if he signs for 2-3 years then see out the contract and not leave us in the lurch again.
If we only have about $1m left in the cap to play with I have serious doubts about paying one man all the money.
We need 1 hooker, another big prop, 1 backup centre and maybe 1 half. 5 won't fit into 1 (million).
I think BA mentioned the rugby union thing because Jarryd has not actually signed yet. I think it is highly likely that he will sign unless the NRL throws something else at us.
By the way, I thought it was reported that we had the full $7.1M to spend next year? Why is the NRL taking so long to confirm this? Surely they would understand we need to secure our roster for 2017 now to ensure a full preseason program?
I agree Longfin, the NRL should tell the club asap. irrespective of appeal or not.
Cos they are c&&%ks, that's why.
Excuse the french
What have the NRL got to hide? Obviously something. Regardless of the appeal they should let us know the figure.
Once all the decent off-contract players are signed by other clubs, then the NRL will tell us our cap position for next year. TG will let us make a play for Farah though, but only for his market value of 800k.
