Parramatta and Coote

Could Lachlan Coote be lured back to Sydney?fox sports.com.au reports Parramatta has made an enquiry in luring Lachlan Coote away from North Queensland. The Eels have signed 31-year-old Michael Gordon from Cronulla for next season, but it's believed Parramatta would be interested in Coote, 25, as a future fullback down the track.Lachlan Coote doesn't come off contract at the Cowboys until 2017, with foxsports.com.au reporting he "could command between $600,000 and $700,000 a year" in the open market.“I haven’t really talked about it too much. We’ll wait for the year to come to an end and then get further into contract talk," said Coote, on foxsports.com.au.His manager said Coote loves it in Townsville and is "keen to stay."“It’ll be about where (the Cowboys) see him long term and it’ll come down to a dollars and cents thing. We’ll see how it plays out over the off-season," said Coote’s manager. The former Panthers fullback replaced club legend Matt Bowen in 2014. He has been a quality performer for the Cowboys this season. Having overcome a serious knee injury, he's formed a potent attacking combination with halves pair Johnathan Thurston and Michael Morgan. He will be one of the players to watch when the Cowboys take on the Broncos in the Grand Final next Sunday.http://www.triplem.com.au/sydney/sport/nrl/news/2015/9/report-parramatta-eels-enquiry-north-queensland-cowboys-lachlan-coote/

  • I honestly feel like we don't need him. We have Gordon and French + Gutherson if it was me I would give it a miss

  • Im  with Braeden we don't need him if we get him we can say good bye to French who everyone on here say he going to be the next super star that's why we sign Gordon to keep an eye on him to show him the way

    • x2

  • Could we play french on the wing then move him to the back after on or two years?

It seems all of the great fullbacks didn't start immediately at fullback they either started on the wings or center (apart from locky)
    • If I was looking towards next year and Bevan's development that's exactly what I would be doing. People keep talking about how small Bevan is, but I would suggest after a proper season of first team pre-season training he's going to be have pretty much identical stats to RTS.

As much as I think Michael Gordon is a really solid fullback, having the ability to switch Bevan to the back for sweep plays to take advantage of his passing ability would really give a new dimension to our attack and if he proves in the pre-season that he can handle the role defensively, I'd be looking to start the season in that formation.

  • where is  rothfield ?

  • This is probably another 'potential' discussion we had and Coote will use it too get his price in Townsville.

Too far away and too many possibilities to even worry about at this stage.

But I cant see a need if we get Gutherson

    • If the Cows win the comp the value of their players will rise. It will become a struggle to keep them all.
I think Coote is good but not someone I'd like us to chase.
  • Don't this is true.
  • RTS, Slater, Inglis, Hayne etc. All started on the flanks.

We need to get him in the game somehow. Is he in our top 25 for this year??
