There's been a few rumours on this site and others re Parra having salary cap issues that meant we couldn't offer Hayne what he was asking. I was one of the first to think this couldn't be true given we apparently had money left for Semi, lost Beau Scott, Kenny, TRex and others but if you look at the following (and these are guesstimates-some from zero tackle) then its very possible we are flying close to the wind.

The base salary cap in 2019 is $9.6M for 30 players with a minimum wage of $105K.

Here's some player estimates (and they are only estimates)

Norman: $900,000

Moses: $800,000

Jennings $800,000 (zero tackle)

Paulo: $700,000 (zero tackle)

Ferguson $500,000 (zero tackle)

N Brown: $650,000

Lane: $400,000

Hayne: $700,000 (asking)

Gutherson: $600,000

Mau: $400,000

Moeroa: $350,000

Evans: $300,000

Mannah: $400,000

Thats 13 players with salary adding up to $7.5M and we need another 17 to squeeze in under $9.6M with Alvaro and G Jennings no doubt looking at contract upgrades.

Depressing as it is, in the absence of TPAs there can't be much left unless we do offload at least 1 or 2 at that higher end.

  • It's either Hayne or Segyaro by my reckoning. We have approx 450 k left
    • Seggy in a heartbeat . Hayne dramas aside , Seggy would provide spark and get us moving . Hayne will not and Hayne will cost at least 50% more . It’s a no brainer .

  • Not sure the figures are correct. We do need TPAs tho.
  • Evans is on 400k if what ive heard is correct.

Tims contract is 280-300k off the cap, the rest is long service allowances.

Mau would be on a bit more than 400k imo.

I think weve told many they can test the market and i think we will see a few deck chairs being shuffled before next season.

Corey, Moses, French, Jennings, Taka, Manu, ive heard weve let all these players look elsewhere.

  • Why don’t we have any TPAs? Is this part of our punishment from the salary cap dramas or is it just poor management?
    • Just poor management, we have zero restrictions pete.

    • Well obviously the player agents don't like Parramatta local businesses. I think the NRL made it very clear the clubs can have nothing to do with TPAs.
      • That’s not true. Club’s are allowed to introduce the player and TPA. They just can’t get involved in the $$  negotiations nor can they guarantee the TPA will be paid.

  • This is fairly concerning. Bernie needs to pull a rabbit out of his hat. Just live and hope people, live and hope.

    • He's been more chance of pulling a Hare out of his arse.
