Parra did a 40 minute warm up in 39 Degree heat

This link is an audio from this morning's Triple M Grill Team. (Don't care of you hate Matty Johns. That's not the issue)

Truly this is absolutely unforgivable stuff. What brain dead moron went ahead with a 40 minute warm up in the blazing sun in that heat? I'm so outraged to learn this.

Whilst Manly were in the sheds doing a light warm up, our boys spent 40 minutes unnecessarily in the direct sun. Manly came out and did 5-10 minutes passing the ball outside before going back in. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE!!!!!!

I'm not a sports physiologist but merely someone with a tiny bit of common sense. Human beings do not need extensive warm ups in warmer weather. Any normal human being would have been totally sapped after a 40 minute workout in the hot sun. It was and is completely unnecessary.

I feel so outraged by it I believe it should be a sackable offence to whoever insisted on doing this. It was negligent, it was unnecessary, it was avoidable, it was totally moronic.

I'm not using this as an excuse. But it ABSOLUTELY had an effect. Parra were sweating and flat before a ball was kicked. Manly looked fresh as a daisy. Why would you deliberately sabotage your athletes like that?

These ridiculous 40 minute warm up sessions are complete BS in most situations. Even in the dead of winter. But to do it in that heat just shows someone has absolutely no clue how to manage athletes. That person should be SACKED TODAY!!!!

  • Wow, what a joke. No wonder they all looked over it and disinterested.

  • Hey Frankie

Do you know if Brookvale actually have decent "away" facilities..

From memory Parramatta Stadium and Brookvale Stadiums had pretty shitty away facilities.

Remeber when Des broke our door.

Perhaps the arming up had to do with the air con not working, a bit of pay back for the shitty facilities we give manly when they play at Parra.

  • I have never seen Parra do 40 mins tbh but i was not there. 20-25 min seems the norm. You would assume Mutt they would cut it back in such conditions.

  • Noooo there’s a better one.....

Club doctors of both clubs were asked if they wanted a water break at each quarter, they both agreed it wasn’t required as it wasn’t hot enough.

    Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

    • Do the away facilities at brookvale have air con ? or perhaps they conveniently weren't working ?

  • That's insane in my opinion. 40 minutes and i noticed manly warming up in the air conditioning dressing rooms before a 10 minute stint outside.

    Dads army system
    • a) Warm up with no air con, underground brookvale

      b) Warm up outside in 38 degree heat

      Catch 22 imo

  • I agree that the long warm ups are completely unnecessary, and probably lead to injuries. You just need to get the blood pumping through the muscles and then rest for about 20 min before the game to get the lactic acid out of the system. Anything more just wastes energy. Why is the club not working with the various sports scientists around the city to improve in this area and get an advantage over the other clubs?

  • After this I’m honestly struggling to disagree with you.

Cleary walks into that broken down joint at the West’s Tigers and in a few short months signs Packer and Matulino. We’ve been crying out for props for years and had neither developed or recruited anyone of note. That too is unforgivable.

  • Well I’d take the shade.
