Panthers put 50 on Storm, you love to see it!

How are we feeling after watching that demolition, still think the our boys didn't turn up after the loss? We played much better and than the Storm did tonight, we defended better and attacked better. I get the doom & gloom after a loss, and I definitely get the frustration, but Panthers have gone to another level this year so we just need to chill and make the other matches count best we can. I'm hoping last weeks game hasn't affected the team to much and they go into Monday's game with some confidence, or the Tigers will beat them.

Secretly hoping we get the Panthers after an Origin game and they rest a few players - they're looking so hot right now.

  • On another note, how good is it seeing Gus derail the bulldogs with his meddling. The dogs will have to do what the panthers did to have real success, get Gus out of the joint.

    • They've done well to a large extent avoid public scrutiny. On 360 last week I believe the figure they quoted was 46 points in 3 games they'd scored. The season prior with sexton at halfback they were averaging 28 points per game at the same time. They were reluctant to criticise Galvin but questioned if him going there was the right move. For mine he was a perfect fit for us, but this is life.
Did you see Bronson Xerri sitting on the bench yesterday when Crichton went off with a shoulder injury? It's not all sunshine and rainbows over at that camp

    • Gus always overstays his welcome. Always.

      • I wonder how safe Ciraldo is? Galvin is a failure so far, even though I felt around 1 he played well, he just doesn't fit and they are doing him a disservice.

Gus will throw Ciraldo under the bus with Galvin decision, if they continue to regress, Ciraldo could be gone by the end of 2027.

yeah he said he loves Ciraldo, he loved Barrett too.

        • That day will come soon where the Bulldogs Board have to back either Gus or Ciraldo. If they're smart they know from history that Gus' time is up. If not, they'll inevitably implode.

          • Well I know first hand Ciraldo was the orchestrator of Galvin. James Galvin said Ciraldo and Vella wanted him and met him and everything. Gould did the behind the scenes but also agreed to it.

Now whether that is 100% true nobody knows but that is the info I got from James himself.

But Gould also is one that won't accept blame on him and will look for a scapegoat. He sacked Cleary, Griffin and Barrett. Yet knocks clubs for sacking coaches and everyone listens with open ears to his opinion. Thats how Dogs would side with him as he can talk his way out of it to make himself look good. He preached going juniors and tried to buy a comp and failed. Not one finals win.

The only time he got sacked was when Penrith feared Nathan Cleary would go to Wests to be with Ivan and the only way they could get Ivan back was if Gus was gone. So it was pretty much Gould or Nathan. They chose right.

One thing I will say is Gould can talk and can get players. If Parra had a plan to have him for 3 years and 3 years only? Would work. But he's like a restuarant owner that gets a class chef but changes the menu every two weeks as he saw something different and wanted that instead.

            • What I'll say about Gus is what did the club look like before he got there.

Even if he has put his nose in when and where he shouldn't make no mistakes the Dogs have improved out of sight in the time he's been there.

Now they are there getting to the peak is the tough bit so it gets scrutinised harder since he's a polarising figure tall poppy syndrome appears and anyone whose anyone whats to chop his knees off.

I'd take Gus over any of the front office people we have onboard now in positions of power. You may hate him but wherever he's gone success has followed and clubs have improved. He's got club building and championship dna something we lack.

              • Yes definately. He is great at what he does. Issues is his accountability lacks and too much tries to reinvent the wheel and not build. If you have some good juniors already playing and just need someone to get quality to the club, Gus is perfect and will get you a comp.

    •

The Bulldogs current position on the ladder (6th) is very misleading! They have 6 points coming from 2 wins, ( a golden point win against the Dragons who haven't won a game and a 4 point win against the Raiders who have also been struggling) plus they have had a bye. The Dogs form after 5 rounds should have them in the bottom 6.

As for the Panthers this season,  the other 7 clubs that make up the top 8 come finals time are hoping injuries and suspensions hit the Panthers in late August and September. Otherwise, only teams with plenty of x factor, ( Broncos with Walsh or Rabbits with Mitchell) are any chance of hitting form and going on a run at finals time. The gap between the Panthers and the other 16 teams after 5 rounds is the biggest I can recall. If we compared it to a handicap horse race, the Panthers would be top weights with 66 kg's and the rest would have 52 kg's and less.

  • 2 negatives make a positive right.

So that means Melbourne now have cancelled our 50 point curse, right?
