This is a premiership winning backline.
Those that say if it ain't broke don't fix it will always live as their forefathers did.
LW: Robinson
LC: Semi
RW: Lavaka
RC: Takarangi
FB: Gordon
5.8: Norman
Half: Foran
1. Gordon
2. Semi
3. Taka
4. Robinson
5. French
6. Norman
7. Foran
One things for sure, we really have to change the make up of our backline next year because it was very poor at times this year, in attack and defence.
I like the move of Semi into the centres. Aside from being our best attacking player I think Semi is also our best defender in the backline technically, he hits hard and low and drives. He has the odd bad read in him but I don't think that's as weak an area of his game as some suggest. His reading of the game is improving all the time. I also think his vision in attack is just as good or better than anyone in our backline.
Put Robinson outside semi and it would be raining tries.
Taka is the other centre and will do the same thing that semi would do - so you need a whippet outside of him on the wing.
You could put Gordon there and expose French to the fullback role but I believe we would get better value in leaving Gordon at fullback so the obvious answer is Morgan or find a fast winger.
Davis is the backup when Taka is injured.
Thus
1. Gordon
2. Morgan
3. Taka
4. Radradra
5. Robinson.
No more slow clunky centres / wingers like toutai and falou.
