"I'm putting last year down to the new style of attack and defence that had been implemented, as well as relying on Volkman at half. It was a disatorous 1st half without doubt, but I can't see that happening again. We should be much better prepared…"

"It was. Mainly because Read came off as a total fuckwit. While it's nice to see (most of) the media on our side in this case, it;s really hard not to be."

You can be interested in players but not be able to secure them. For example, certain clubs can offer third party deals or other incentives. Players may wish to play closer to family.
RTS is probably not the best example. The Warriors have secured him over plenty of others clubs, so you'd assume that other factors are at play.
As for our recruitment, it has been very specific.
Kicker needed - done
Fullback needed - done
Organising half needed - done
Leadership needed - done
Outside backs needed - happening
New second tier players needed - done and happening
As for ages, we are actually a young team, in both age and relative experience. In adding experienced players, we help to transition our younger blokes into being better NRL players.
He will be great for them. Gordon is playing outstanding footy and our plan I'm told is to get 2 good years out of him as we grade French into first grade.
Overall I think it's pretty astute of the Eels.
Warriors will learn this as Souths are.
We didn't go much worse than last year without Hayne and the new recruits will ensure we are well on the way to having a talented TEAM and not just a talented fullback.
It will be the first time in years.
I am not how you can say this when Souths just won their first premiership in 4 decades. They won the premiership!!
Player to win us games or step up when it's needed.
Hey Boss,
RTS is a Kiwi - he wanted to go home and he wanted to play for the Warriors, and they were able to pay him the money he wanted. He was never actually on the open market so to speak and thus wasn't actually a target opportunity for any other NRL clubs, including us.
Had he placed himself on the open market he would have fielded at least 5 or 6 highly competitive offers from other clubs.
He would be safely locked up with The Roosters had he wanted to stay in Sydney.
Based on our current needs, as outlined by Sixties, Gordon is probably our best option at this point in time - I think he will prove very good for us. Maybe not spectacular - but certainly solid.
Cheers mate.
