Our Attack

In the presser BA said the Eels have been focusing on defence in training and that is why our attack was a bit clunky. Which is fair enough and our defence was good.

But we still have two wingers on the right side. Maybe Fergo should play centre in attack every so often?

  • BA has been saying that for the last month. At what point do you say 'I've taught them all I know'?

    • This is a massive cultural shift for our club. The words “Parramatta” & “great defence” have never really gone together. It’s not something that can be fixed overnight, it takes sometimes years of reinforcement for it to become ingrained.

It’s one thing to know it in your head, but until it becomes second nature, like breathing, you have to continuously work on it.

  • We needed to improve our defence and it makes sense to do that first. We can make the top 4 with our current attack. The less time the opposition has to see our attack for the finals the better.

  • I'd rather be coaching team with very good defence and have work to do on attack anyday. Attack will improve but history has shown it's the best defensive teams that go deep into the finals. Good platform to build off into the last two months of the season.... still a long way to go

  • BTW - who is the jerk reporter who is always trying to cause problems for us in the pressers?

    • Depending which one. There were 2 trying to get a reaction out of BA last night. Brent Read & Dean Ritchie.

  • Gutho seems to set up most of our trys. The execution from our halves isn't great.

    • That’s ok, fullbacks are the modern five eights. Gutho’s playmaking has gone to another level, his short pass to Matto for Waqa’s try was next level, that was an easy pass to overthrow, but it was perfect for Matto to run onto at pace.

      • It's good that Gutho has been able to adopt the modern fullback role, but it's far from good our halves can't execute properly.
