  • Poor bugger will go backwards under Meningas coaching. JAC has made Russell's game, he will probably have someone like Morgan Harper to take him under his wing. Good luck to him, he has been a good servant to the club, and I'd say we couldn't justify matching Perths offer.

  • Maybe the tele article about us locking up Dunster till  2030 wasn't just Ai slop.

The timing of our needed cleanout is unfortunate. We are exposed to fresh predators and the inflation they bring. This is a vulnerable transition time for us and the sharks are circling. We keep throwng our recruiting lines out into the sonar returns, then drift for a bit  til the weather changes, then cut bait. Ocean fishing is rough going for us right now, so we are planning to lean on our fish farm and hope to jag a wild one eventually. Wild caught fish are highly desireable and more expensive. When others come offering Wild prices for our farmed fish we are in a catch 22 bind of overpaying  enough juniors to find the few that don't turn out to be any better than  tinned tuna

...and now i want some  Flathead grilled in butter.

  • Yea ungrateful kent.

  • so let's take this a step further, does Russell now drop down the order like Dylan Btown did towards the end. The future is now isn't it. If Ryles wants players playing first grade that want to be here, then i feel there may be more issues around this later in the season. Interesting how Dylan Brown was not played, we have Pezet in his 1 year deal that is expected to play more so then not and then we now have Russell turning his back on a coach that media suggests wanted him. I'm not sold on him as a premiership quality centre, and if i was to improve our squad him and Penisni would be 2 of my first picks to be subbed out and better replacements found, but it appears Ryles and the club wanted to keep him. There will be more to play out during the season in regards to Russell me thinks.

    • I'm making the assumption that Russell is seeing out his contract, not exactly the same set of circumstances as Dylan Brown's departure

      • Plus we wernt in the hunt to make the semis ... if we same position on ladder next year ,, I'm sure he would do same with Russell

      • Well Brown saw out his contract too. He was a free agent when signing for Newcastle. Yes had options but still a free agent as he didn't activate it.

    • If we get Brian Kelly, I think Russell won't get many games... but if we don't, Russell will be in the centres.

      • Well Kelly makes a bit more sense now.

  •  Fair enough. I think he'll start for Perth so I can understand. If Richie P, Twidle keep improving they might be first grade ready by 2027. Let alone younger backs. Let alone signings.

"Yep agreed. Russell has come along way and is now a serviceable player, doesn't do a whole lot in attack but is a big body that plugs a whole.
Looking forward to see what Richie can do. Just hope he's not another project "
