Orford to save Eels?

Parramatta have targeted former Manly halfback Matt Orford to solve the club's playmaking crisis.

The Eels are considering making a play to lure the homesick veteran away from UK club the Bradford Bulls in a move that would see promisging youngster Daniel Mortimer moved back to No. 6.

"He might be good for a year or two to help Daniel," said Eels CEO Paul Osborne. "There are some good quality leaders floating around."

The Eels are also keen to talk to Bulldogs veteran Brett Kimmorley.

Phelpsy: I understand you are in the market for a halfback to help guide him. What are your options?

Ozi: We are having a look around. We have lost a few players and we have some money. We are having a look what is on the market and it is an area we need to strengthen.

Phelpsy: Are you interested in Brett Kimmorley?

Ozi: There has been talk about him but also Matt Orford. There are a few options we are looking.

Phelpsy: Orford? Really? Isn't he contracted to Bradford?

Ozi: Yes he is but we are going to talk to his manager. If he is someone that is going to come back to Australia then we will have a look at him. He might be good for a year or two to help Daniel. There are some good, quality leaders floating around and we will consider them.

Phelpsy: How about Cooper Cronk?

Ozi: For sure but I don't think they would let him go.

Ozzie said almost the exact words about Kimmorley.

The real problem is -IF they are seriously considering anybody why don't they just say so instead of this non commital BS.

No point stuffing around because if there are other clubs interested in these guys they are not going to BS the negotiations.

Too much (non) talk with absolutely NO action.

It's enough to make a dyed in the wool Parra supporter change over to the Storm and Maroons!
At least that way we know we will always be mushrooms.

Im assuming they are just hedging their bets Col,they are probably sounding the lot out and are just seeing who is the best option and which ones are actually available.Lets hope so anyway.

    I would even have that knob Hodges if I thought we would win with him. At the end of the day a winning team is what the fans want (as long as they dont cheat like storm). We don't know if Cronk was deceptive with side contracts do we? Anyway we probably wont get Cronk and we can feel self righteous as we lose another comp! But hey we will lose with honour and the fans will feel respect and admiration after a good loss!................NOT!!
