SCOTT WANTS ANZ PAINTED BLUE AND GOLD
by Dean Ritchie
SENIOR Parramatta forward Beau Scott wants to see ANZ Stadium painted in blue and gold. A crowd of up to 30,000 is expected for the Eels’ elimination semi-final against North Queensland on Saturday night.
The famous Blue and Gold Army will be out in force. And they’ll be confident — Parramatta have won 11 of 14 matches at ANZ Stadium this year.
“There will be a huge turn-out of the blue and gold this weekend,” Scott said. “We’re looking forward to that, to run out in front of them. “We want the fans to get right behind us. Our fans have been great all year. We have really made an effort to make ANZ Stadium our own.”
Scott has achieved everything in rugby league — 11 State of Origin matches for NSW, three Tests for Australia and an NRL premiership title with St George Illawarra in 2010..
His knowledge will be absolutely invaluable for a relatively inexperienced Parramatta team.“Obviously, I’m a leader of the club — I try to pass on a little bit of knowledge where I can, if anyone wants to listen to me,” he said.
“I enjoy that responsibility and I think it brings the best out of me as a player.“It’s experience at this time of the year and the Cowboys have plenty of it. It’s one thing we’ll have to be cautious of this weekend.
“We have players in the team that had never experienced finals before. The trip to Melbourne was a great test for us as a team and a vital experience for them to know what it’s all about.”
