I believe that this rule needs to amended to allow a strip ONLY when there's a single tackler at every point of a tackle.
I believe the warriors and other teams are training gang tackle then drop off when one of the tacklers indicates he is in a position to strip the ball.
A strip should only be permitted when it's a one-on-one situation from start to finish.
Hate it's current form!

It’s getting ridiculous. I’m not being a smart arse but I predicted this would happen when I read about this rule change in the off season. Coaches will always exploit every single rule. It’s so obvious.
That’s the old rule. I agree. I thought the rule change was good initially but now, seeing it being on implemented I actually think it goes against the spirit of modern footy to be honest. It’s like a throwback to the 80’s and similar to when you put on an old vhs from that era and it hasn’t aged well!
I agree Michael it goes against the spirit of the game
No, can’t agree. The defence needs more opportunities, not fewer to compete for possession. I would have no restrictions on how or when defenders can complete for possession. Doing so will go along way to eliminating the wrestle.
Everyone loves to talk about the good ole days, well if you go back to them good ole days the defence could compete for possession at all times. I'm telling you, if you allow defences to compete for possession at all times we will over time see wrestling out of the game as it will no longer be necessary.
Not true! In the good old days of Rugby League, they were tougher, and tackles which were the old fashioned tackles knocked the ball lose so they didn't have to fairy tap (strip) balls lose.
It’s league not union Brett.
So, in league we don't allow the two teams to constantly compete for possession ?
You don’t think agressive tackling is competing for the ball?
What you are saying is that Having 2 or more players in the tackle (you could say forming a ruck) then dropping off after one has wrapped his arm round the ball, then stripping it free is fair competition. That’s a load of bollocks how is that fair on the attacker?
Brett you have to always remember when analysing the rules of league and any changes that the history of league has been a continuous evolution away from Rugby Union and it’s continuous play for the ball. In many ways the brother sport of league is American Football but they have actually gone further in a lot of ways and they completely stop the game after every tackle to reform the ruck or line of scrimmage. Rule changes like the no - contest for the scrum, people whinge about the old days but has it actually made the game worse as a spectacle? No, otherwise the rule would be changed back. I think the rule committee caved in to the old boys whinging on this particular rule because they thought that the actual instances the rule would come into play would be few and far between. But they didn’t count on the coaches who, as soon as a door is slightly opened barge through it.
