Today I got a text message from the club inviting me to become a member of the Eels NRLW club.
My first thought was, "Aren't I already an Eels member?"
"Haven't I just paid thousands of dollars these past 2 years for effectively not much (due to covid)?"
I love my club but I find this separate NRLW membership scheme a bit much. If my Eels membership means I'm not actually a member when it comes to the NRLW too, maybe I'll choose a different NRLW side to support? Hedge my bets a little.
Maybe the Roosters NRLW side could do with another member? I'm not sure, I'll have to weigh up my options now since I'm clearly not an Eels member in NRLW.
You need to be a member of 1Eyed Eel to add comments!

I think they've got a fucking hyde.
Alot of members/season ticket holders (I'm sure you're one of them Mutt) have basically gifted money to the club over the last two seasons and so far we have got absolutely nothing in return. There's also no guarantee that there won't be further disruption next year.
If the club wants to treat the NRLW team as a completely different team they need to stop shoving them down our throats and let them stand alone. This is nothing more than a money grab.
There's alot of talk about the club being run by more astute people these days - I'm really not too sure about that.
I received an email from the club the other day in regards to my membership, we will receive a credit for the games that were moved from bankwest this season. The amount of credit is yet to be determined but it will he deducted off next years membership. I'm guessing the cost will go up probably by about the same amount the credit will be. If you don't plan on renewing your membership I don't know what happens with your credit.
Yes HKF, i received the same one. I am not being rude but i doubt i will become an NRLW member, as being the current member with the mens team is more than enough, and personally i have not watched a womens game.
I know the club is trying to keep things going and looking at various incentives for things, but they also should know its been a tough 18 months now for everyone for various reasons......and i am a fortuate one who has been able to work during this.
By doing this they're implying that the NRLW is very much seperate from the Parra Eels men's team.
They're sort of saying "wer're seperate, so if you want to be involved and be a supporter you need to pay us" No thanks.
Yes I agree Kram, and while it may be good intention, i watch with interest the cost and how many members they receive. I would assume the cost would be minimal due to the amount of games they play.
I agree, no thanks.....
I've no idea mate.
All I know is that I won't be getting an "NRLW" membership.
It looks like other clubs also have NRLW memberships. So it's not just the Eels.
Still, I just don't think it's clever to do it this way. Surely you'd want the full weight of the 30,000 Eels members behind the NRLW side also? The extra revenue from NRLW memberships will be paltry and barely worth the trouble. Just include the NRLW in the main memberships
Agree. And it will leave a bad taste in the mouths of alot of members..
