  • MESSAGE TO STEVE,

You know the voters are a fickle bunch, youve been given lots of leway mate and to your credit youve sorted the big dramas out like the contract bungles and getting in Schubert to help sort the cap, well done.

    BUT

You NEED to give the NRL a PLAN on constitutional reform TODAY, you must have one?

They are not asking for reform in the next few weeks, they are asking for a no bullshit plan from us.

You need to get them this plan Steve or the big chance is you will be voted out next election.

Id like stability at the club and think we are heading in the right direction, but you need to sort this for the club and supporters, dont fucking let self interest get in the way of sorting this.

And Steve.................your bluff yesterday with the NRL didnt go to well did it? As we predicted.

I supported you to get in Steve, as most of us here did, dont let us down mate, we put our faith in you, nows not the time for games with the NRL although i respect you sticking up to them, nows not the time for games with them.

    Cheers

    • Well said Snake.

    • U go snake. Like I said from day one. Steve sharp and Tom Issa are not the answer to leading this club forward.. To get 150 voting members and have a vote of no confidence against this current board. Funny trying to tell the nrl wat to do.
    • ^^this
      Agreed whole heartedly
    • Well said snake, as usual self interest overtakes common sense.

  • dido

    • D ildo...
What a load of heart wrenching bollocks.

Steve: OK Mr NRL, we are all going to bend over as far as you tell us too and you can choose which orifice.
We are worried about our positions because we are human and we want to see the club succeed which is difficult with constant change at board level. You run quite a few of the clubs now, you are not running this one, go to hell.

MR NRL: Just bend over boy!
      • So many lines could be used right here lol........   Through to the keeper it goes.......

      • If the current system had a recent history of board stability then perhaps the current board would have an argument.

However, since Roy and his boys got elected in mid-2009 this club through it's board and CEO turnover has become the joke of the league and that turnover has been at least according to the current board a big part in the reason why the salary cap was breached for every season since 2010 (first full season under Roy).

Now, I'm not saying that the recommended changes from PwC are correct however the NRL is well within it's rights to be concerned that the current election model could cause future problems if say in the next election Steve Sharp and co get expelled.

Steve himself is part of the reason why the NRL is trying to force the changes that he is fighting, because he admitted that the current board election problems added to the salary cap breaches, had that admission not been made than maybe the NRL wouldn't be pushing so hard to change the way the elections are run.

But he didn't he took the old politician route of blaming the people who were there before rather then actually trying to fix the problem, at least until he was forced to, I doubt very much that any of the governance issues that have been addressed would have been if Steve Sharp and the rest of the current board were left to their own devices.

If a proper argument was presented to the NRL as to why the current election model is better for the club moving forward rather then running to the press and threatening legal action maybe just maybe the NRL would be more open to listening.

  • Spot on Snake, if he can't come up with a plan on constitutional reform we are minus -4 and our season is pretty much dead in the water.  And so will his election chances, he might not want it but he did campaign on the issues but were put in the too hard basket just like the previous mob did.  Doesn't he realise if we do start the season on minus 4 he's brown bread anyway???
