The Rugby League Players Association (RLPA) has sensationally called an NRL player boycott on all pre-game, post-game and halftime interviews during NRL matches as the collective bargaining agreement with head office has exploded.

The RLPA will be holding a press conference at 2.45pm AEST to announce the latest course of action over the protracted CBA negotiations with the NRL and Australian Rugby League Commission.

From Thursday July 6 all NRL players have been instructed to refuse to take part in all TV, radio, print and digital interviews until the conclusion of round 19.

Dressing room access will also be cut off to Fox League and Channel Nine – the NRL’s multi-million dollar broadcast rights partners.

The ban will be in force from the beginning of every round until the round of football is concluded with players only allowed to partake in interviews on Monday and Tuesday each week with the NRL-club based websites.

Players will also still be allowed to maintain existing relationships with media organisations on Monday and Tuesday each week.

  • I don't know what the real issue is here but I'm for any action which undermines Vlandys' and Abdo's authority in the NRL as they've overstayed their welcome as far as I'm concerned.

    • PVL is like Churchill. A terrific war time leader where quick decisions need to be made on the fly, but a lousy leader in peace time. Great peace time leaders have 5 year, 10 year & 20 year plans in place and are constantly reviewing & tinkering with them, but have a specific roadmap where they want things to go and follow them more or less as designed. PVL was brilliant keeping the game playing COVID, but his need to be constantly changing & micromanaging with his talentless puppet is harming the game.

      • Brett Allen do you know the same powers that run the world today  profited  from funding  both sides  of the world.  Churchill kept the dream alive  for them. Part of the problem.

        • Yes, and I'm sure surrendering to Hitler would've worked out wonderfully for everyone, or should I say Wunderbar.

          Heil to ze Farzerland.

    • Same here.

    • No dramas. Footy players can't string a sentence together anyway

  • Good on them. The NRL has failed in negotiating the CBA and has continued to demonstrate that PVL and Abdo are nothing more than snake oil salesmen.

    • I'll hand it to you Super , you did call PVL a dope from the start and have been proven correct .

    • PVL has done what PVL was brought in to do. To be a patsy for media and gambling interests.

  • Media pays nrl's bills.
