NRL Leaks is back for 2019 with all the latest on player movements, rugby league whispers and recruitment coups.
There are plenty of clubs ready to feed on the Sharks should they be forced to shed a player as a result of the NRL's salary cap investigation.
Parramatta, Canterbury, Canberra, Wests Tigers and St George-Illawarra are all eager to replenish their squads with an outside back or middle man prior to round one.
One player the Sharks won't be losing is Shaun Johnson. His contract was recently registered by the NRL - a process the governing body wouldn't have completed if they were preparing to inform the Sharks he needed to be the fall guy.
The NRL are expected to hand down their penalty on the Sharks next week.
The Melbourne Storm are madly trying to shop monster forward Sam Kasiano to rival clubs before the start of the season.
Kasiano has proven less than impressive since arriving in Melbourne from Canterbury at the start of 2018.
Despite showing early signs of promise with his fitness levels, Kasiano has failed to cement a starting berth within the Storm front-row.
Don't be shocked to see Parramatta make a play before round one.
He underwent serious neck surgery prior to Christmas, but Penrith playmaker James Maloney is one tough hombre.
Maloney has told Panthers officials he's ready and willing to return to the field for Penrith first official trial match against South Sydney next weekend.
Maloney will play at least 40-minutes against the Rabbitohs, but his halves partner Nathan Cleary is expected to be saved for the club's second trial against Parramatta.
Despite requesting a release from his contract mid-year last season, Knights hooker Danny Levi will start in round one as Nathan Brown's first-choice hooker.
There is huge pressure on Levi, Newcastle halves Mitchell Pearce and Kayln Ponga and fullback Connor Watson to instantly click - something that has taken noticeable time in their pre-season training.
Dragons recruit Kurt Mann will start the season as a utility from the bench.
NRL CEO Todd Greenberg isn't the only administrator under massive pressure to hold onto his post.
We keep hearing Eels CEO Bernie Gurr won't survive beyond his current contract which expires in October.

Brissy, I think the journalist has just been reading this site. Both CEOs have been copping it for ages on here. I would not be surprised at all if Parra were to part ways with Bernie. He was pulled in to do a job, and regardless of how anyone feels he has performed, that job is largely done. In any event, things are (or should be) changing at Parra and the structure needs to accomodate the next phase in that transition.
Kasiano would be predominanly Wenty on a minor contract. I would not want to see a situation where he would play NRL for Parra. Still can't see this happening though and I'm sure the club would rather promote youth or buy in players who can mentor these young guys.
Bernie going would not be a surprise to me brissyeel as he has, is only a front man for Max and brought nothing to the club and IMO has done nothing but totally agree with you on Kasiano. He would be another Evans, just a waste of money, would rather promote a juniour or get a forward who could mentor the juniours, something Sam couldn't do.
I heard last year that Bernie is going back to the states, doubt he'll be taking another NRL job.
Hes completely out of touch with the game, why should he be given the top job?
The Parra Prediction coming true.
The Turd gets flushed and Gurr takes over.
Rumour has it (I just started it) Parramatta have aprroched Brian Waldron, who has served his time out sentence and looking for a new high paid gig.
hope we make a play for Big Sam Kasiano, can't be any worse than Mono Brow Timmy.
Well Parramanaic knowing our club we will probally get him as we keep getting 2nd grade players or duds like Evens.
Bernies a complete bum, hopefully hes gone way before october.
I heard last year from a few sources that he wasnt staying much longer, cant see him being here long term.
Maybe the Wee Waa Wombats could hire him to detroy their strip and take the club backwards.
Kasiano LOL, Exactly BAs type of signing actually.
I don't know if Bernie is duing a good job or not as i don't know everything that goes on at the club but boy has he made some bad decisions. The jersey design has been a disaster ( i don't care if you like it, not enough people do), appointing himself head of football, not hiring a defensive coach in 2018 until mid season, hiring an AFL strentgh and conditioning coach and his biggest mistake of all could be not firing BA after the disaster that 2018 was. Bernies job might very well hang on how BA fares this season.
My biggest concern if Bernie does go is, who do they replace him with?, there is not exactly a lot of really good rugby league club CEO's out there waiting to be snapped up.
Bye bye Bernie, take BA and your shiity jersey with you.
