Just reading the top 100 nrl rich list
Christian Welsh no 91 on $480 000 in Melbourne but turned down over $1 million a season for a 3 year deal with the dragons.
Melbourne are quite the negotiators and gave Welsh an extra $30 000 a season from a $450000 contract last year to stop him sighing with the dragons
Welsh's manager must have secured quite a large third party payment
Of course it would be at arms length from the storm and there wouldn't be any chance of a second document filed away anywhere.
I'm also sure that the NRL have checked into all of this and it is all above board

sorry mate saw it in the Gold Coast bulletin
Not sure if anyone else can link it
In todays telegraph paper too ..... dont ask me to link it - I am lucky to turn a computer on....
Makes me 🤮
Take it a step further. 2021 grandfinal Eels v Storm. Storm win and a couple of months later found to be rorting the salary cap...
Sound familiar. Would we stand for it twice.
Well, we'll need to burn something down.
haha
Off course it's a rort, only becomes a probLem when someone opens their mouth.
It's funny how the NRL won't let clubs sign players for less than so called market value, Like when we tried to sign Falou all those years ago, but allows a club to retain a player for far less than he has been offered elsewhere, isn't the highest offer now your market value?.
NRL will always need Melbourne to be strong to keep a foothold down there.
Can you imagine how irrelevant they would be if the weren't a competitive side.
They already struggle with crowds and they are the current premiers
Can't wait to see the favours the new franchise get from the nrl
If the NRL doesn't look after Melbourne they'll become a rabble like Canberra did when they stopped looking after them.
