No charge for Junior!

Cowboys forward Jason Taumalolo will miss the opening matches of next month's Rugby League World Cup after he was charged with a dangerous contact offence in side's Preliminary Final defeat to Parramatta.

Taumalolo was sin-binned for the tackle on Eels forward Isaiah Papali'i in the 15th minute of Friday's finals match and has subsequently been charged by the Match Review Committee with a Grade Two Dangerous Contact charge.

With an early guilty plea, Taumalolo will miss the opening three matches of Tonga's World Cup campaign or four matches if he unsuccessfully contests the charge.

In other news, Rabbitohs prop Tevita Tatola is free to play in his side's Preliminary Final against Penrith after he accepted an early guilty plea for a dangerous contact offence stemming from Saturday's Semi Final.

Tatola has been fined $1,800 for the Grade One Dangerous Contact offence on Sharks winger Ronaldo Mulitalo which happened in the 59th minute.

Rabbitohs forward and fellow England star Thomas Burgess has taken the early guilty plea to his two Careless High Tackle charges and will need his team to make the grand final if he is to play again this season.

Burgess was charged with a Grade Two offence for a high tackle on Roosters fullback James Tedesco which carried a two-game ban with an early plea.

Panthers winger Taylan May has entered an early guilty plea to a Careless High Tackle and will miss his side's preliminary final in week three.

  • Would of been a fine had CowGirls won last night.

  • I didn't think it was a penalty. Glad the MRC didn't do something stupid here.

  • Just as well it was nothing Taumalolo should have been sent late and high

  • Great tackle by Jr

  • Still can't believe we didn't even get a penalty for that hit by JT - what an absolute bullshit decision.

In fact the Cowboys got the play the ball straight after he was binned. Cowboys whinging about the first forward pass well I'd argue this was worse and he could've been marched....

  • Thank fuck for that
