Why Dom Young won't be slipping off to rivals: Toohey's News
Newcastle Knights have slammed the door shut on English try-scoring machine Dom Young answering an SOS from Parramatta this season.
It's understood the Knights were approached last week by Young's agent enquiring about the possibility of gaining a release for the remainder of the season following interest from the Eels.
It's unclear if Parramatta offered up a player as a potential swap or financial compensation or even had the chance to do either before Newcastle rejected an early departure for their giant winger.

Yeah nah, don't like a quick one year fix thing. Young though I guess on the wing is good but he ain't no FB option plus he has defence issues also.
Doesnt make any sense, look at someone who could stay past 2023.
Not necessarily, not every player needs to be a long termer, particularly in non vital positions
I guess but i just am not a fan of a "That'll do for now" type signing, even when what we are going for is someone who can play 1, Young cannot play 1.
From what I've seen from Young he's a good finisher but not a particularly good yardage man. So people complaining about what we get out of Sivo would start complaining about Young in the same way. The yardage guy at the knights is Greg Marzhew
Let's see what Dunster brings. My only concern is if we went for Young perhaps that's a tacit admission Dunster is coming back a bit too early
Yeah well, we had Marzhew here for 3 years and super coach never gave him a sniff of first grade. Be handy now.
He's poor defensively and under the high ball, we found that in his few games for us
Marzhew can barely read an ABC book nonetheless an NRL defence.
Young has too many mistakes in him and defensive issues. From what I saw in the trials the young winger starting with k has potential. Strong out of the backfield. Big and athletic. Does need a bit of work, though.
We are just trying to spend the coin so COVE agency don't ask for it.
No harm in asking
