The Eel's off-season has seen a barrage of rumours flying about regarding potential signings. The strongest rumour centres around North Queensland and Australian halfback Jonathan Thurston, who was first linked to the club in a blog on this site before similar suggestions were made in the mainstream press.
According to information posted in 1Eyed Eel blogs, Thurston is keen to join the Eels but negotiations are ongoing around a release from North Queensland.
Bradford Bulls and former Manly half Matt Orford has also been linked with the club, but Bradford is still seeking a suitable replacement and Canberra has emerged as a front runner for the homesick number seven. 1Eyed Eel has previously confirmed that Bradford is seeking out replacement options.
However, Osborne's email are the most solid indication that the Eels are close to making a signing. Given that the club has publicly stated that there is ample money left under the salary cap, and that the club has just the one or two signings to go, it stands to logical deduction that one of those signings must be a marquee appointment.

How long is shortly?
When they signed SK their announcement was 3 weeks after the advised "shortly" date.
Let it happen.
Given this last email, it would appear Osborne is very confident he will have A signature and surely it must be one of the two mentioned. I can't imagine how you could possibly go out on a limb and make those kind of statements as Osborne did in that email unless your very, very confident.
heres hoping
but yes i do hope we get thurston.
