Just wondering what peoples thoughts are about this New NRL Rule which is going to be tried out Thursday night in the Storm vs Broncos match. It means that the team that has conceded points either through a try, penalty goal or field goal scored against them can decide via their captain if they want to take the kick off or receive the incoming kick. I'm not sure if I like the idea.

This is stupid, the NRL will be a joke and add the PNG team. Sport is becoming harder to watch by the day.
Stupid rule.
Can't see many times anyone will take the kick off unless there is 30 secs left and you've just gone in front by a point or so.
Kick it way down in their territory and defend like crazy for a set.
stupididy, the game is changing and not for the better, from the six again that allows them to minipulate the game to this is only making it more and more like touch just that its grab hug a tree and will end up distroying this great game and just like touch will have little interest and will not have many supporters.

If they want to make a change for six agains start by having fast or slow called by the ref thats it if you run past the advantage line its a fast play the ball 3 seconds or behind it 5 seconds same with tackles that are surrender tackles..
So many times I see players making a break and they are held for a long time.. so stupid...
Also spend the money stick a line on the field inline with the ref for 10 meters....
Every new rule might seem harmless on its own, but eventually you look at the game and realise it’s nothing like the game you grew up watching.
Leave the basic principles alone. Let the players and coaches find ways to win within the rules rather than constantly changing shit around them.
Another thing I find frustrating and it varies from ref to ref is the 'held in a tackle' rule. I've seen some refs when a player is being tackled by 2 or 3 players and he's being held up and sometimes the ref will yell 'held' almost straight away and other times when its clearly obvious the player is tackled because he's not moving and is held by 2 or 3 players and the ref let's it linger on for ages sometimes even allowing the tackled player to 'offload' a pass which C as n even sometimes result in a try being scored. It's really ridiculous
To me, I hate it. I like what Matty Johns said, if you want to change momentum, just tackle better.
But, at least they are trialling it. Instead of just saying "this is it, take it or leave it" they are letting clubs see how it works.
Issue will be, when clubs come to vote for it. The good clubs say no as they want to ball after scoring. The bad clubs say yes as they want to ball after conceding.
I like the idea, give it a go in a match that doesn't mean anything to check it out. I hate how the clock doesn't stop when someone is kicking for goal or after a try. I'd rather halves be 35 minutes but the clock only ticks down when they are playing. Ball goes over the sideline, clock stops. Someone scores a try, clock restarts when the team kicks off. Time is such a precious commodity, I hate when it is wasted.
So far the new rule has worked a treat, no conceding team has received the ball haha. Is this a big F you to PVL?
