Looks like we will get shafted once again, I wonder if the NRL would step in if it was the Tigers pushing to get Lomax

              • We just offered keon 1mill how the fuck do we not have cap space, what are you smoking? Lomax was on 650k, we never replaced dbrown, and braith said we signed pezet for unders this year. We have a war chest.

                • Ummmmmmm that is for 2027? i mean this year Not hard to work that one out.

Yeah Braith also said the plan was to only be 1 year with Pezet then said yeah we wanted him long term. Braith also knew how sour this deal was to fans so why not try to sweaten it by saying we got him cheap?

What am i smoking? What are you smoking not realising KK was going to be for next year where we have Matto's money and more likely a bit more of Paulo's as he takes a pay cut.

                  Iongi, Samrani, Papali'i,

If we do have a war chest then we better start paying as we better start paying someone now as we have to spend 95% of our cap. We also have 2 spots in our top 30 left, both worth $120k minimum. So that is at least $240k for 2 spots. Let's say we have $700k left and have to pay Lomax's full value, leaves us with nothing.

I can keep going mate if you like? I mean you make an argument thinking you have it over me by using a player that would have come to us in 2027. Nothing to do with 2027 cap. What are you smoking thinking that???

              • We probably could fit him in. A 2026 deal would likely sit around $350–450k if it started between February and April. We've probably kept some powder dry for a mid-season buy anwyay if something attractive emerges, like Walker or TDS last year.

Explicitly saying “we don’t want him back” would only feed RLPA narratives. As far as I’m aware, the club hasn’t publicly said that. We accepted Simonsson back, so there’s precedent for resets.

Maybe the pragmatic option is to let bygones be bygones, with an early exit clause if R360 eventuates in 2028 as a show of good-faith. Lomax may well pull his head in and focus on footy, and the playing group could be fine with it. It shows maturity from the club. Second chances. I don’t get the sense Ryles or the club hold grudges.

Still, a clean start via a fair swap might be the simplest resolution. Interestintgly, Cronk doesn’t think Lomax ends up at the Storm.

Either way, the Eels have to hold the line.

                • NRL would say pay full value, not sure how much that would be from February, but also HOE have to think about the 2 extra spots in our top 30 we have to meet by June, we have to have cap space.

                  • If he signed with Storm in March-April, he'd be not too far off half-price. Why should we be disadvantaged with a new contract from the same time? He's hardly been contributing to the Eels in any capacity since his release. No Eels' pay since then.

  • We should not of agreed to his release in the first place. You just watch parra get dudded now the nrl steps on.

V'landys is full of shit pokes his chest out threatning 10 year bans blah blah blah. He's full of hot air.

    • Well in fairness, we thought too that the contract he signed, with his own free will, would be enough, as it should be.

Plus we probably felt we wanted him gone.

    • V'landys is a flat-track bully who throws soundbite threats. His image is hugely important to him. If he duds us we should counterpunch and drag his judgement, leadership, vision, bias and underwear choices until he feels the white-ants and shits his pants. We are on rock-solid ground re public opinion and we are the injured party. So if we show fight in public, ignore his threatening calls and give no ground we can maybe salvage some respect..... If Vlandys treats us like doormats, after Zack treated us like doormats and we go-along-to-get-along, like doormats, then we ARE fucking doormats and we deserve to be walked on.

If you sell us out we will burn you down

You sold us out so we burned you down

      • Spot on Randy, we play hard ball on this one and fight it all the way set a precedent for all future dealings with the NRL. It's time for the sleeping giant of the NRL to waken an show some teeth.

  • Never gonna happen, the repercussions if validated, means any player wishing to exit any club can do the same thing. It would be utter chaos
