Thought id share a little story i have about Nathan Hindmarsh.
I grew up in a tiny little town called Tumbarumba in the snowy mountains and one of my mates from down there had to go to hospital to get a liver transfer about 8 year ago the kids name was Tye Hussel. Anyways he was a massive fan of nathan hindmarsh and before the surgery Hindmarsh payed tye a surprise visit and wished him luck for the surgery and all that, tye pulled through the surgery fine and still Nathan keeps in regular contact and takes time out to go down and see Tye once or twice a year, goes down and stays with the family for a few nights. Just shows how much of a top bloke he is..
Cheers.

I've been a fan of this guy since he first arrived on the Parra scene first impressing me with his out wide bursts and runs, but over time he has earned far more respect from me in what he does off the field. Nathan comes across as ever so genuine, good hearted and a all round humble guy. To me he is everything NRL, and if they were to make an add based off one footballer, then it should be him, no questions. Sure there are others that do plenty for kids, and I take my hat off to them all, but Hindy is one of my all time fav's.
a very sad day when he goes , 2010 title for hindy
My uncle has lived in Qld for the past 50 odd years (and a Qld supporter) at Christmas he told me they are moving down to Robertson for 6 months of the year and Qld the other half. Straight away I said that great!! Now you can support the EELS.. his first words = oh sh1t….lol, but then I said mate your going to be living in Robertson you have to support Nathan he’s a local.. He said, yeah your right…………….
Moral of the story… never give up trying to convert people…lolol
But I think if it wasn’t Nathan Hindmarsh, I may have got a different answer..
He is a good bloke and I think fans of all NRL teams would have to respect him not only as a player but more importantly as a person.
At the fan day he was going way beyond the call of duty to make sure all of the fans were happy and received what they wanted from him, whether it be a couple of items signed or photos taken with him.
He seems very down to earth and like I've said before, he doesn't seem to be a 'pretty-boy' football player.
Not wanting to take away from your blog, but rather add to it. There is an avid supporter of the Eels who happens to be Down Syndrome. My friend was up at the Hillside Tavern one night.... during the Eels bad run last year... and whilst buying a beer, said hello to this guy. The down syndrome guy said he was an Eels supporter (awesome!) and was up there waiting for a friend. When my mate enquired further, he said it was Nathan Hindmarsh. Naturally my mate thought he was telling a bit of a story, but sat down with him and chatted a while.
5 minutes passed when Nathan Hindmarsh walks up to the table.! my mate couldnt believe it. Nathan bought both of them a drink and sat and talked to them for about an hour. Finally he had to leave. He wished my mate and the young fella all the best, and left.
What a good bloke, seriously! He had been at training all day, yet he was happy to take an hour out of his night, away from his young family, to bring a bit of joy into a young guys life. Good on ya Nathan, you indeed are a good Aussie bloke!
