Nathan BROWN (Eels)

South Sydney’s decision to allow one of their most promising young forwards to sign for a rival club was staggering, especially given the form Brown showed in 2016.
His hunger and tenacity on the footy field is second to none, and while his on-field antics may be questionable at times, there’s no denying his natural talent.
If he can learn to harness his aggression and channel it in the right way there’s no telling how good this young kid can be.

An interesting read, and no doubt will upset some bunnies supporters.
The question is though what is his best spot? 107Kgs and on the eels profile is listed as prop, second row and lock, only position not mentioned is hooker.
The more I look at this bloke, the more I see him as a power interchange to cover each of the main forward spots, and perhaps a more roving dual purpose role, of impact runner in the 2nd row or hard defender at lock to provide a replacement for Scott.
I believe that with Kranky as his foil that they will be used as very strong interchange players in the year to come, X and X factors.

Adding to this, BA stated in the interview yesterday that he was showing some silly skills at training so I'm really looking forward to seeing what this guy can do on the field. It sounds like there's a lot more to this guy than using his aggression for a batterying ram.
Agreed, problem has been that his aggression has been used in the wrong way, rather than angry aggression that gets him into trouble, very much controlled aggression is more intimidating and useful, more effective as it does not mean penalties and possibly leaving the team short.
It's going to be an interesting test for Brad to convert this aggression. If he can, we know for certain we have a master coach on our hands.
I can hear BA licking his lips from here! That just made it even more interesting.
Geeeeeeze, when does the season start again?
The other view is to use Matagi as the battering ram early and when the forward start tiring use Brown and Frank with their offloads.
Imagine a defensive line that has to commit at least 2 defenders to mark Brown 1 side and Frank the other, plus then have more defenders watching for which direction French is coming from. All the time leaving gaps for the rest of our players.
How many weeks til it starts?
Ham, I think that Mannah is sold a bit short on the attack aspects of his play. Certainly the last couple of years his offload abilities has not been on display, but his strong runs and fast play the balls are the best in the club, IMHO.
Part of the reason I believe is that he has had the shoulder problem for some time and only got back to use or near enough to it late in last season. The other aspect was that when Foran left the team became much more defence focused, losing Norman didn't help either. But Tim showed too late what his true abilities in the unloads were.
I remember a period where the Bear also went for a period without showing the skills he had with the unloads.
Regarding Scott, he inspires in defence and has a fair running game and prepared to make some hard yards, I believe that we need, where possible two ball players in the forwards at all times, that means Mannah is one and Brown another, Ma'u also has abilities in that dept, and is able to play 80minutes or close to it. Edwards is ok at times.
