Sharks offer Reynolds monster 3-year deal
NRL: The Cronulla Sharks have reportedly offered Rabbitohs star Adam Reynolds a three year deal worth $2.4 million.
Parramatta star Mitch Moses is poised to reject a massive offer to reinvigorate the floundering Brisbane Broncos by signing a new long-term contract at Parramatta worth up to $3.7m.

Moses, 26, hasn’t reached a final decision but his likely retention could finally settle the great halfback debate with Adam Reynolds likely to join Cronulla and the Sharks’ Shaun Johnson now moving closer to signing with Brisbane.

The Broncos were preparing a $1 million a year offer for Moses, who has until round 10 to activate a clause to remain with Parramatta for next year, his final season before coming off contract.

Moses is keen on a four-year extension with Parramatta discussing a three-year deal. Both parties seem certain to find a resolution.

News Corp has been told Parramatta’s offer for Moses would top $900,000 a season.

Moses is still considering Brisbane’s interest — and could be tempted late — but has told friends he is happy at Parramatta, is enjoying his footy in a potentially premiership-winning team and wants to remain living in Sydney close to family and friends.

Even a massive offer from the Broncos probably wouldn’t sway Moses into heading to the Broncos furnace.

Parramatta has been urged by Eels players to sign Moses long-term, making him the general to build a club around in coming years.

The Eels are privately worried at the size of Brisbane’s offer for Moses but their concerns appear unfounded.

While Moses is certain to sign at least one more contract before retiring, those close to him suggest this deal could be the biggest he negotiates.

Parramatta captain Clint Gutherson wants Moses to remain an Eel but won’t interfere in negotiations.

“Halfbacks are gold at the moment,” Gutherson said this week. “It’s up to the club and Mitchell to sort out.

“I’m sure he will do the right thing for himself, the club and his footy career. Me and Mitch have been close for a number of years, I knew him many years before he came here. But it’s none of my business. If he wants to talk to me about it, I will be here but it is up to him and what he wants to do with his playing career.”

Reynolds is expected to join new coach Craig Fitzgibbon at Cronulla from next season while Broncos coach Kevin Walters can now – with Moses ready to recommit at Parramatta – target Johnson.

The seismic pressure of leading such a famous club as the Broncos has been a deterrent to several leading players Brisbane has chased in recent years.

      Well done Parramatta

      • Where does it say that Mitch Moses has already signed? Haven't heard anything as yet.

  • The Eels are privately worried at the size of Brisbane’s offer.... so Dean Ritchie is part of the inner sanctum of the Eels retention committee. What a wanker!

  • $900k per season is a lot for a player yet to step up when it counts most but the club really had no choice.  Changing half-backs while we are at the start of a premiership window would most likely shut that window, unless you were able to replace him with top level experienced half back.
