Moses off to scans

HOBBLING MOSES ALL OK
Brad Arthur isn’t too worried about Mitch Moses’ groin injury, with the Eels coach unsure whether his star halfback will even need scans for the strain that hampered him during Saturday night’s 26-8 win over the Bulldogs at CommBank Stadium.

Moses appeared to injure himself while passing the ball in the first half and sought regular assistance from the trainers.

The representative halfback gave up the goal-kicking duties and barely ran the ball, but his coach is confident he will be fine to face the Panthers next week.

“Mitch said he’d be right and he’d get himself through. I wasn’t really impressed when he was kicking at the backend of the game, but he felt like he needed to do that to help us win,” Arthur said. “They (the medical staff) said his groin was a bit sore but that he was okay, and not to kick. ”

The Eels could have easily taken their main man off given they were up 20-0 with a huge local derby less than a week away.

“I thought about it, but the guys told me he’s okay. The carry on from Mitchell trying to get him off the field would have been worse and wouldn’t have been worth it,” Arthur said.

Parramatta looked very good even without their chief playmaker able to move freely, with back-rower Bryce Cartwright scoring twice in the comfortable win.

It continues a remarkable turnaround for the edge forward whose career was at a crossroads following a failed stint on the Gold Coast.

“He’s really challenged himself, and I think he’s got some really good support from his teammates,” his coach said.

  • He didn't look too bad. I'm sure he's strained it and I'd bet he won't play vs Penrith. But not season ending.

  • Not sure on this one! He could have come off the last 10 minutes possibly. Groin injuries can be unpredictable. It's the last thing the Eels need Moses out for extended time.

  • The carry on from Mitchell trying to get him off the field would have been worse and wouldn’t have been worth it,” Arthur said.

.... And I thought that Brad Arthur was the coach and in charge. Perhaps we just let Arthur go and let the players decide what they want to do ?.

    • Lol 😆 🤣 😂

    • Sounds like you and Chief should be running the side, if so what would you say to your alter ego's after a game that would be as positive as you currently are?

      • Well said Poppa

      • We are going all in to fly Bennett to kellyville in the coming weeks popo

  • If you start pushing yourself before your groin pull is healed, you could re-injure yourself. And if you get further groin pulls, they may be harder to treat and take longer to heal. They can even lead to permanent disability

    • That's true. The game was well and truly over with 10 min to go and BA should have stepped in and got him off. There was absolutely no upside in keeping him out there. On the contrary, there was a definite possibility that he could have made the injury worse. Sometimes those in charge need to make the tough decisions, not withstanding the backlash they may get from the player.

      • BA mentioned in the presser he consulted the medical team all the way through the game it wasn't a case of the coach and player making the decision the medical team was always involved.
