Moses gone Calf.

Put him in cotton wool until Vegas ffs

How much can an Eels fan take

He should hang the boots up on all rep football.

Calf again,  similar soft tissue injuries only allowing him to play less than half a season.  Moses needs to make the call and support the club which pays him 1.5 mil. Thats it. Ive had it

          • It could be disruption to his normal loading, it could just be bad luck, it could be because Moses does not pass or kick ages before the line and gets targeted. Who knows?! But when your 7 is getting selected in Origin and Australian teams, and the response of a segment of fans is to complain about it, that is very clearly pointing to a disillusioned fan base more than there actually being a problem with getting selected for rep games.

        • He puts in more for rep duties.  His bodies not used to comimg out of second gear very often. If he's not catching and passing or catching and kicking , he's using muscles and bones he's not used to using...

        • Wondered the same as you Longfin. Maybe our own  physios know his issues and help him in some way in lead up pre game wise...clear something is lacking and can't imagine he'd be that blasé to not fully prepare to his best :(

Enough is enough he wouldn't be the first to focus on club duties (i think:)

          • After last season the first place I'm looking to improve is strength and conditioning last years injury toll for us was catastrophic.Yet I have a look at Penrith and co who had a similar toll to key players but seem to bounce back strong where as we putt back and never quite seen to be able to handle such hardship.

Last year Penrith came from dead last to make a prelim to a GF and they had a bad year with injury 2025.

Im not looking at just Mitchellls prep I'm overhauling our strength and conditioning department because our sides seemingly never seem to hold together for long weeks of physicality and didn't look as athletic as other sides.Recruitment plays a part in this also it's not a singular solution here it's an overview approach I'd take.

I'f im to solve this issue it's not just a Moses issue it's a club issue we need more physically tough more athletically prepared players.Strength and Conditioning is an area we HAVE to improve if we want to fix the consistent injury bug our key guys are running into.

      • No it isn't Macy. Parra have every right to ask him to step aside. Though Moses also has every right to say go and get f***ed. Nothing in his contract says the club can stop him from playing. So we can ask and talk to him, by all means. But him listening? Who knows.

I agree, at his age it is time to move on, he has played 8 Origins and 4 tests. More than 90% of Australian players in the history of the game have done. Playing for both is much more rare. Yes he is in an era where he could have played more in his prime but he has still done it.

He is 33 next year, time for him to now cement the legacy with a premiership. Though as well, i understand him wanting to play rep footy for the money and prestige around it making up for lost time.

        • Rep footy is good for Moses to be involved with but the biggest issue is he's always underdone heading into a game or doesn't ramp up for it. Can't go from 0 to 100 like that and expect to stay healthy. Hasn't played in over a month and paid the price last night

      • It's beyond a joke now mace

we get very little " value for money " and the powers that be need to have a chat with Mitch and say

it's premiership time mate - get on the train

this crap about rep matches  " lifting his game " is just out and out bs

it takes him away constantly from our club and mucks up momentum and player combos

        • It's nice to see someone else raise the issue of value which is something that basically never gets discussed. As our marquee player (the highest paid) Moses is the hardest player to obtain value from.

Any absence, any error, any dip in performance diminishes the return we are getting more so than anyone else in the team. And if he is performing at his best that is on par with his contract. So there really isn't an opportunity to obtain value from him. His playing contract should absolutely be under the most scrutiny.

I think one area we have erred in is over paying players (often based on paying for "experience" or a perception that we are desperate for their signature) towards the latter stages of their career. This is something we need to be really cautious of, the risk is enormous and the reward often goes unrealised.

          • Well put Adam. I agree we have had a history of hanging onto players too long at too high of a price point.

We have another 3 seasons of Moses on contract. We locked him in on a high and will be paying him through injury and decline. It's worrying.

            • Supply and Demand and lack of ability to attract or develop an adequate replacement also plays into the money Moses is getting. We've been down this track not only are we paying market value for Moses by doing so we've gutted all our young development players in the position doing so.

Moses as you and Adam have said deserves scrutiny but the players around him have to do there jobs so he can show his worth also and through the last few years whatever it may be we just aren't getting the value.

Where as in the years 19-22 all those work type players we were getting overs in value.Your Lanes and Papali'i's of the world had career years. We just aren't getting that from these guys now.

Isaiah Papali'i we were paying 200 k in his second year and he was Daly M second rower of the year.
