Parramatta legend and Nine commentator Peter Sterling has praised his former club and mid-season signing Mitchell Moses as the Eels march towards finals football and a possible top four spot.
The Eels are currently in fifth position on the NRL ladder following a comprehensive 20-4 defeat of Canterbury in wet conditions at ANZ Stadium.
The Eels have lost just three times since Round 13 and are on a six-match winning streak to be peaking at the right time of year.

The catalyst behind the Eels' surge has been Moses' controversial mid-season shift from the Wests Tigers.
And Sterling couldn’t agree more.
Speaking on Sterlo’s wrap, the former Eels halfback heaped praise on the club’s current number seven admitting Moses is the club’s long-term solution in the halves.
“He’s coming along beautifully,” said Sterling.
“The try he setup is an indication of just how dangerous he can be. He looks really confident.”
Moses has combined well with five-eighth Corey Norman with both players realising they need to be a little more selfless with the ball according to the Eels legend.
“The combination with Norman is great because they are both prepared to submerge their egos for the good of the side, so they can be dominant players but they don’t have to be. I’m really excited by what’s coming together with the six and the seven at Parramatta.”
Sterling was critical of Moses earlier in the year over his form at the Wests Tigers and the manner in which he left the club but fast forward to the pointy end of the season and Sterling admits the club is lucky to have a player of his calibre leading them around the park.
“We always knew that Mitchell Moses was good player and I think he’s found the right football team now.”
The Eels have quite an easy run home into the finals with the Broncos the only other side challenging for the finals and Sterling believes Parramatta has the grit to make a real fist of the play-offs.
“When Clint Gutherson was ruled out for the rest of the season, you thought that’s going to have a major impact. Well they’re covered it well.
“The halves are coming along beautifully, Bevan French to fullback is working, the forwards have found their grit something I think they lacked for the first half of this season and there’s a hard edge to them now

  • Sterlo has previously endorsed Sandow and Foran which "went well"
    • And Tim Smith before that.
    • Sterlo was always critical of Sandow. He didn't think Chris was the way to go for Parra. I think also some of those past comments may have been politically correct.
    • Penna was a talent who never lived up to his potential.

Sterlo also endorsed Jason Bell - unfortunately another who had the goods but couldn't make use of it.

On paper I'd say Bell was the best potential half we have had since Sterlo and until the current pair.
  • Sterling was actually critical of Mitchell Moses at the start! Strange how even Sterling can sing another tune when it suits him.
  • Yeah and look where Sterlo bagging the Parra half got us.

If Sterlo was a true Eels fan he'd keep on bagged Moses
  • Well you can put a line through his name then.

    • Didn't Sterlo endorse Tim Smith and about half a dozen players that have wore the eels number 7?
  • There goes the 5 year plan!
  • I really like Sterlo and think he has a lot of intelligent comments & insights, however his record of endorsing prospective Eels halfbacks is horrible. I really hope Mitch doesn't see his comments.
