TITANS LAND KEY SIGNING

THE Gold Coast Titans have beaten the Parramatta Eels for the signature of Leeds Rhinos hooker Kruise Leeming.

Leeming, 27, will become the latest English Super League player to try his hand in the NRL after the Titans moved swiftly following the injury to new recruit Sam Verrills.

Verrills, who won a premiership with the Roosters in 2019, underwent surgery on a fractured collarbone on Monday and is expected to be out of action for up to six weeks.

The livewire Leeming is currently awaiting visa approval before he’ll join the Gold Coast. The Eels had also shown an interest in signing Leeming before the Titans were able to get the deal done in 48 hours earlier this week.

WHY MOSES WAS LINKED TO ROOSTERS

The key element of the Sydney Roosters being linked to Eels halfback Mitchell Moses is the move has been floated by Isaac Moses rather than the Tricolours.

The Mitchell Moses contract saga has developed into one of the most protracted negotiations of all-time complete with twists, turns and triple pikes on a weekly basis.

The man in the middle of it all is player agent Isaac Moses - the Eels halfback’s cousin - who has so far had Wests Tigers, Canterbury- Bankstown and the Parramatta Eels all tap dancing to his tune.

The Roosters are now the latest club to be unwillingly dragged into the Moses floor show.

The Tricolours are adamant they won’t be doing the dance to try and sign the Eels halfback given they’ve already got Sam Walker and Luke Keary on contract for next season.

But that doesn’t mean Isaac Moses hasn’t been pushing the prospect behind the scenes.

Roosters king pin Nick Politis has endured a love-hate rapport with Moses over the years due to the negotiating style the twice de-registered agent often employs.

Player options are a favourite tactic – as evidenced by the Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii deal the Roosters agreed to with get-out clauses every season until the end of 2025.

The Suaalii situation certainly isn’t the first rodeo where Uncle Nick and Isaac have locked horns.

Back in 2016, Politis was left fuming when the Roosters believed Mitchell Moses was joining the Tricolours only for his cousin Isaac to announce at the 11th hour he was remaining at Wests Tigers for one more season.

In a classic rugby league twist, the Tigers move ended up going pear-shaped and Mitchell Moses made a mid-season switch to the Parramatta Eels in 2017 where he’s remained for the next seven seasons.

Uncle Nick was so furious about the way it all transpired the Roosters king pin point blank refused to deal with Moses for months until the Roosters decided they needed to make a play for James Tedesco.

Business is business, so when the Roosters wanted to get the Teddy deal done the ice thawed to a degree because at the time Moses was also Tedesco’s agent.

Tedesco and Isaac Moses have since fallen out although the Roosters captain remains great mates with ex-Wests Tigers teammate Mitchell Moses.

When Isaac Moses was de-registered for the second time as an agent in February of 2021 NRL clubs were specifically instructed to no longer deal with him.

But like him or loathe him, Moses is clearly one of rugby league’s best negotiators.

During his time rubbed out of the game, Moses still enjoyed a network of high-profile NRL identities in his corner including retired Australian, Queensland and Melbourne Storm champion Cameron Smith.

Over time, NRL power brokers softened their stance on Moses being stripped of his credentials and after 18 months he was allowed back in August of last year.

The circus has been in full swing ever since.

  • But there was another blog saying Moses can't kick?? What am I meant to believe? So confusing

    • Belting the ball across the park and kicking it between the sticks are two differant ball games. His goal kicking and missed field goal in front of goal lost us 3 games. He was goal kicking at 58% before the Panthers game.

      • If your looking at it in isolation yes it hasn't been upto par.I think over his career though he'd be in the 75% range.

Moses goal kicking reminds me of his big moment parts of his game when it's on its close to best in the game. The very difficult he makes look easy sometimes the easy he misses on that's the conundrum that is Mitchell Moses.

  • Exactly , could be his manger trying to force our hand.  Imagine the club trying to explain to fans that Moses hasn't signed after all the hype.

For arguments sake let's just say there's a stalemate over the 5th year. Tigers are going cold , his manger leaks the Roosters story , that fails.  Next step , Mitch go out and play a blinder tonight , and I'm going to leak you've signed.  They'll be pressured by the fans to get it done.

    Just a scenario.

          • Yes, someone told JG that someone else started the rumour just to see what happened. And JG went off like a frog in a sock   They're not exactly going to say that Moses manager incentiveised them to leak a rumour now are they ?

Hence why no names were dropped. How do you think managers leak these rumours ?

              • Chammas lol.  And you say I'm making up fairytales.  You sound ridiculous quoting him as the source like it's gospel.

Are you Sinbad ? Because we haven't heard such stupidity since he graced our pages.

    • I think it's ONeill and co's job across the board is  to look for players to improve the team.

I mean when Papalli decided the Tigers were for him the first guy who the Eels targeted was Briton Nikora from the Sharks.

So when I hear we are in on certain positions no surprises for me.Hodgson is only a mid price bridge to the future regardless. What Parra are doing is stacking in the key positions so they can't be hostages to a rising market.

  • Keeping it simple the reason we are a decent side is:

    1 - paulo and rcg

    2 - gutherson's engine

3 - Moses' long kicking game

    • That's a very basic breakdown of it but pretty much spot on.

With Paulo, RCG and Gutho All getting towards the end of their Careers, the Eels need to be looking at who's next in line for them because as soon as they start to slow down, the Eels will start to struggle. All three still have a vew good years left but it's usually a quick drop from great to just ok.
