Mortimer's Future?

There's an interesting discussion emerging on the Sportal League Forum concerning Daniel Mortimer's future. The story being put forward is that he could end up at the Storm in a straight player swap for Cronk.

Not beyond the realms of possibility, though I wouldn't have thought the young Mortimer would be all that keen to move interstate yet. Then again, his family are in Orange so from that perspective you might as well be in Brisbane, or Townsville or Melbourne as opposed to Parramatta...None of them are exactly a short drive away from Orange!!!

  • Why would the Storm want Mortimer over Cronk?
  • Would the Storm really be willing to do that trade?
I mean, Eels fans wouldn't be complaining, but the Storm fans would have a young halves combination with Finch probably leaving.
  • i agree
  • ive heard it all now! who comes up with this stuff ?
  • was this someone thought was a good idea or is it a rumor with some legs?
I was told by someone in melbourne that when Ozzie was there to see Kearney he asked for a meeting with Storm Ceo and the football manager since he was in town and was told they weren't interested in meeting with him so he had a meeting elsewhere with Kearney. could have been a smoke screen.
IN any case i believe the board and ceo still have hopes of getting cronk here for 2011.
  • so is quade cooper a big diversion or something like that?
  • lol the board and our wonderful CEO can keep dreaming. Melbourne has declared what their under the cap team will be for 2011 and Cronk is in it! Therefore i am not believing another word of another Cronk story!!!! :(
  • This site has really gone to shit!!!!!
  • I seriously think that there is no big plan or big secret. We're not to blame for thinking that our club is so intelligent in that theyre creating diversions to ultimately reveal a massive story. I think there is absolutely nothing to be revealed and they are just throwing large sums of money at any person that can kick in the hopes that they can make it look like they were doing something this year ( though admittedly they were considering we were in talks with just about every person in the NRL, etc).
  • i don't think he is a hope of coming but insiders say the board are still confident. I really didn't think he would ever leave melb anyway.
Too many leaks in our board if it was a ship it would be abandon ship! man the life boats!
Cronks manager had the board believing Cronk was a chance but at no point did melb ever give him permission to speak to other clubs or hint he could get a release.
Someone should check the coffee pot at Eels HQ there is some good gear in it.
