Mitchell Moses- Coming of Age

Without a shadow of a doubt MM, played his finest to date game for Parra. He controled the tie from the 1st minute until the 80th.

His passing, running and kicking were sublime against a top 8 team. OK, the Dragons are going through a tough period currently but you've still got to turn up and play hard.

The questions that beg are, was this a one -off? Can he repeat these high level performances week in-week out?? Did confusion or being superceded by Corey Norman stunt his leadership?

One thing I know is that he has the raw talent to destroy any team on his day.

I think he should try keep his game frustrations in check and be more cold-blooded about things, just like Sterlo was. He was a cool, calm c*nt if there ever was one.

I hope BA keeps the current back line as it is so we have a good sample to look at because you can't really tell if it was a one game wonder or not.

His solo try was the best we've seen since Semi left. He can do more of this especially in the final quarter of games looking to pick out a lazy forward or two and then run around them. Mitchell must run. He has pace to burn.

  • Yes great game. I like norman at one too. Moses can take controll then.
  • He has plenty of talent. It helps when your forwards are dominant and give your half time and space
    • Who would have thought our pack could beat that of the rep studed Dragons pack?

  • I thought his kicking was poor tbh, but it didn’t matter so much. His key is playing fast and straight, when he does that good things happen for the team.

    • Kicking has been an issue for him all season. If he doesnt improve the ball should automatically go to Norman on the 5th who generally is a much superior kicker and one of the best in the comp.

If Norman keeps playing like he did against the Dragon's, keep him at FB for next year too.

Letting Hayne roam free has been a good move too. He can pick and chose his moments, going back to wing when out of puff. In general JH doesnt seem to have 80 mins in him but he's more than capable of brilliance for 40 mins. He does though need to pick his fitness levels up. He disappeared in the 2nd half again, just like he did in the Titans game. If he can give us 2-3 tries in the 1st half, I'd take that every day even if it means his intensity drops in the 2nd.

    • His footy smarts are off the chain . More than Taka hey brettles...?
  • He was very good, but lets get serious those try assists were his first since round 10.  He needs to finish off the season well and hit the ground running for 2019 or I doubt we re-sign him.

  • His try was great- when he's through or half through a gap he just needs to put the hammer down and head for the line - he's very quick.

He can set up a try (like he did on the weekend) but I still reckon he is at his best with ball in hand. I reckon he has to do both though - that's what gets the defense second guessing themselves.

    • I agree completely, champ.

His running is his best feature and should feature more. In general halves like to "protect" themselves and avoid being tackled too often due to their fragile nature as smaller and/or lighter players. The 2nd half though with weiry forwards legs in the best time to run.

In general MM needs to become smarter, try read the opposition's weakness and strike when the time is right. If Sterlo and Turvy ever taught me anything as a kid growing up was that you didnt have to score off every tackle. They were masters of setting up their teams to score after a particular lead up. Mitch has given off that he's trying to make things happen when they're not on and being frustrated  when a team mate doesnt give him the ball or run at a certain angle. I've lost count this year how many times you'd see him throw his arms up because of those two instances. Once he's frustrated he fecks up consecutively.

  • I’ve always been of the belief that Moses has more natural talent in his little toe than Cleary has entirely. He just needs Cleary’s composure and consistency. If that ever happens, then we will have the best player in the game steering our team around the paddock. I think his time will definitely come if he can develop better composure.
