Five players inducted into the NSWRL The Star Hall of Fame
True Blues Danny Buderus and Michael Cronin, and Rugby League Immortals Dally Messenger, Frank Burge and Dave Brown, were inducted into the NSWRL The Star Hall of Fame tonight in a glittering ceremony at The Star Event Centre in Pyrmont.
The True Blues dinner, which pays homage to the players who have pulled on the sky blue jumper and celebrates both past and present representative teams, also included the Westpac NSW Blues and Harvey Norman NSW Sky Blues being presented to the almost 500-strong guests.
Cronin pulled on his first NSW jersey in 1973, the same year he was chosen to tour with the Kangaroos and for the next decade he was a fixture in leading representative teams.
He helped ensure that the Blues kept the Maroons at bay in interstate football during the 1970s, winning 17 and drawing two of his 19 games played under the old interstate residency rules. All up Cronin appeared 27 times for the Blues and scored 192 points.
The NSWRL The Star Hall of Fame now features 29 players, including the Rugby League Immortals who represented NSW. Messenger, Burge and Brown achieved Immortal status recently with the NRL and have subsequently been included with the original inductees.
The eligibility criteria for the NSWRL The Star Hall of Fame is determined by a selection committee including True Blues Ian Schubert and Bob McCarthy, Rugby League historian David Middleton and leading Rugby League journalist Andrew Webster.
The qualification for the Hall of Fame is:
(a) The player must have played 10 games or more for NSW; or, alternatively, the player must have captained NSW; AND
(b) The player must also have played for Australia; AND
(c) The player must also have been retired for at least five seasons.

Congratulations to one of our club legends. Such a great footballer and a gentleman to boot. Always has time for fans.
Now lets get Sterlo into this elusive club and recognition for his great service to NSWRL and Australia.
Can't believe Peter Sterling is not in the list, or Ray Price and Steve Ella
Check the qualfication criteria. Steve Ella doesn't qualify. Only played 8 games for NSW.
Sterling and Price qualify though.
BM Sterling and Price certainly need to be on that list. They were a part of the three GF's in a row, 81, 82 and 83. Part of four GF's out of six when you include 86.
surely also one or more of this group should be an immortal. The only team since the Dragons eleven straight ending 1966 to win three straight GF's.
NSWRL Hall of Fame only relates to interstate and Origin representation. Sterlo, Kenny, Cronin and Price are already part of the NRL Hall of Fame.
I am not sure what your point is?
No I am not sure what you mean either Super, get off your sanctimonious arse and support Sterlo and Price.
I note that there are 6 from the St George Golden era team on the list
If Pricky is in there, how can you not have Sterlo? Putting Buderus ahead of Price who was a true ATG shows Price must have ruffled some feathers in head office. Pricey said what he thought, which is much better than a sneaky political type.
In some ways these awards don't mean anything when you see who they have missed, but I am glad Cronin got his recognition. A true legend and gentleman.
