As you may have noticed, I am critical of the membership department at times, simply because it seems to be amateur hour most of the time there.
Finally, they are beginning to run the place like a professional sporting organisation should.
If you're a member and haven't checked your e-mail this morning, then do so. The club has instituted a measure to ensure members seats will always be filled.
With their new "Seat Warmer" initiative, members can notify the club if they'll attending home matches. If not, they are given a $20 voucher and the seat becomes available to the general public.
This isn't quite at the same level as European football but it's a step in the right direction. I say that because many top tier European clubs offer a ticket buy back instead of a voucher that must be spent at the club store by the end of the season.
Nevertheless, it's a simple procedure that ensures seats aren't left empty because members are too lazy or unable to go to home games.

I see enough of the opposing fans at the "Colliseum" so I won't look at being rewarded for introducing them to the good folk who sit around me at Parra. I'm with big K.
I think you missed the point of the initiative. If a season ticket holder can't make it, the ticket goes on sale. With the objective being to get as many Eels supporters into the ground. The stadium is currently trying to ensure its future and this is one way to do it.
