I have just been watching Parra's NRL Club Day on Fox Sports and something that stood out for me was in the match vs Tigers.... Do the Tigers' medical staff know what they're doing?
Taniela Tuiaki badly broke his leg after Ben Smith tackled him (bad enough for him to never play again) and the way he was walked off the field was like he just had a sprained ankle... Now this reminded me of the way that Simon Dwyer's career ending injury was handled, major nerve damage basically half paralyzed and they also walked him off like he had a minor injury.... Begs the question did the medical staff make these injuries worse by the casual way in which they were dealt with especially in Dwyer's case where more nerve damage might of been caused when moving him and walking him off instead of being taken off on the medi-cab (Ur not supposed to move anyone with a neck injury, wouldn't it be the same rule for major nerve damage?).... It was a shame cos Tuiaki and Dwyer had great futures ahead of them in the game.
Come to think of it, maybe an injury prone player like James Tedesco would of been better off going to Canberra.

On second thoughts regarding Tedesco, maybe he's better off missing half a playing career on the sidelines through injury than being coached long term by Ricky Stuart.
Initial correct diagnosis is important so that a proper rehab plan can be initiated early to get the player back on the paddock. Unfortunately I'm aware of a number of cases (here & elsewhere - not current) where the diagnosis was incorrect. Another area where medical staff come under pressure is from the coaches who want their players back playing ASAP.
Generally speaking, I think medical is one area of an NRL club that could be improved.
