Gee what a good idea CE, they should put you in charge, some one like you could revolutionise the game.
Hopefully Luai plays a blinder so Moses only comes in through injury
This is the stupid way that Origin has been built. To have a mid year competition that takes away from the main competition is just crazy. As others have said, it needs to be separated from the main competition. That's not likely to happen though because it makes too much money. The only way this will be fixed is if interest wanes big time for Origin - not likely any time soon.
Raiders and NZ have to be watching and laughing while other clubs get decimated with origin commitments
Actually the players that are not eligible are very envious of the players that do play. Raiders and Warriers can provide origin players if they are eligible and good enough.
These players that are not eligible have their opportunities in Test Football and World Cups. The cherry can be divided up to keep everyone happy. if you can think past your natural biases.
You shared blame in a comment made earlier in this blog Eli, my view it is 100% on the player and his professionalism. Nothing to do with the club and the heads that people want to see roll.
When Moses first had the calf strain diagnosed which was after a club game he should have acted then but I am sure through his loyalty to Parra he wanted to play. Remember he couldn't kick for goal (foot) and then he couldn't kick for touch (calf), that started in a club game. He knew he would not make it through that training session when he pulled out of game 2. I posted at the time he could maybe stand a strain, but any sort of a tear and he is out for a while. He knew it was his decision to play! Why did it take him to game 2 to get a scan done?
When we had our great sides of the 80's we were proud of how many players we could get into Origin. I think we just about had the whole backline plus Ray Price in one year!
It's pretty much a stuff up from all parties involved, just hope they learn from it and move forward. Handled horribly and yeah Moses probably should have been put on ice after game 1 and managed more carefully for sure.
I understand your dilemma Finney but it is one of the reasons that the game becomes before the clubs.
Now the clubs and the game are symbiotic, but clubs come and go, but when they lose interest in the Origin they need to find a replacement as the game lives on TV ratings. We can always go back to the way the game was played 50 years ago, with no tv ratings and poker machine subsidies paying the clubs and our rep footy played between country and city.
There is a big chance that we will not have many caucasions playing the game, moslyt Polynesians and socially disadvantaged Rednecks..
We need to step away from the myopia of our clubs and look at big pictures and hope the club you follow is well enough led to achieve the pathetic wants of the fans!
There goes Lomax for the weekend too.
Naa clean record he's safe lol.
