  • Getting paid $25,000 per game is "pretty hefty" too, Ryan.

Must be the rising interests rates behind the decision?

    • Wow, what an irellevant comment.

  • Its all well and good now that he's just signed a huge deal. I'm sure if Matterson was playing for a contract he wouldn't do this.  These are the types of players you don't want at your club.  4k is nothing for these guys.   It could be the difference between finishing top 3 and 8th to tenth.

    • What a stupid thing to say chief. He runs a charity and puts all his money and time into this and you think he is not the type of player that should be around Parra? That says more about you. Paying $8000 a year in fines is absurd. No way any of you would pay for this. Good on him for standing up to the nrl.

      • Rusty, the 4k may sound high, but its equivalent to 300 bucks for the average factory worker mate.  For someone on 650k + its farking peanuts. Its farking  Coffee change for matto.   Its a giant kick in the teeth for fans who some are forking out one tenth of their income to take their family's to all home games. Its disgraceful, selfish act and uninspiring to his teammates.

I hope he realizes his mistake and backflips because its also a pr disaster.   Fark him.

        • If he fought it he could have been out for longer. He's sucessfully wiped his carry over points for next year in the process so there's a bit more nuance involved than meet the eye.

          • Carry-over points retired as part of NRL judiciary changes

You need to catch up Ricky. These went ages ago.

      • So Rusty, what you are advocating here is youd be thrilled if all eels players took this option throughout the year to prove a point?

So the clubs chances will be totally fucked again, to prove a point?

The only club so weak and stupid to have that happen is us, its one of the most stupid ideas ive ever heard.

I agree with you, the fines are stupid, but we are in the business of trying to be winners and win comps.

Theres smart, stupid and selfish ways of doing things, this is in the latter two groups.

      •

''He runs a charity'' yes he does, its called the Parramatta Eels, he obviously thinks that the club is his charity.

      • "Good on him for standing up to the nrl."

lol standing up, sits on ass for 3 weeks and can't play the game he supposedly loves and is well paid for. What a little boy attitude, soft !
