Mate, you dont know what he is going through personally. Firstly, with the fine issue, the club should have made that decision for him. Second, we got a good 2-3 years out of him and he played a major role in our gf run. To play 1 game of nrl is a major deal. He's played over 150 games. So howbout showing him a little respect. Concussion issues are no joke
Both the club and Matterson totally embarrassed themselves in that situation. Firstly Matterson can't be dismissed from any gwrong doing, as he made the disgraceful decision himself, and if he was playing for a contract he wouldn't have thought of making such a shit move. That proves he thinks about money before his team mates.
Secondly, Sarantinos should have nipped it in the bud. Sarantinos was very passive in the situation. He stuffed up as he has done on numerous occasions . Also ba oneill and Sarantinos stuffed up by offering him a 3 y deal as it was well known he had issues beforehand, and at Wests he had many disagreements with the coaching staff about playing . The three stooges strike again . 3 years for him was a disaster waiting to happen
Though they offered him a new 4 year deal after making a GF and he played Origin. Also, we had lost Niukore, Papali'i, Kaufusi and Stone. We needed to keep some familiar faces for the middle so we gave him a good deal to not go to the Dolphins.

that aside , Matterson has ended up offside everywhere he's been, every club. Yes mental health and concussion should be treated , and if that means he can't play anymore then so be it. But this obviously wasn't the case with Matto or the club would've retired him long ago. Matto was fine to play , he just played the game to ensure he didn't . He was being named and not showing . If we remeber back this whole thing started when he was dropped to NSW cup and put in the front row due to his own selfish choices. Instead of coppi)g it on the chin he went the other way and virtually never played again.
However let's say he wasn't fine, I still can't get my head around a guy not turning up and helping with training kits, taking a leadership role and helping with coaching duties or just being involved. Mattos socials suggest he's been very disconnected from the team. Wasn't he flaunting his European holiday recently whilst his teammates were getting beaten back home ?

There's an interview somewhere where the club wrongly assumed the pre-season trials were going to count towards the games missed. Amateur hour, for sure.
Will probably do a George Constanza and rock up to pre season training in November for a pay check, retracting anything he has done
