If Mateo does a Luke Lewis and backs out of his contract before commencement of play 2011, im pretty sure the backlash will be similar to the backlash that Rubin Wiki had to endure in the 1990's.
For those of you that cannot remember, Rubin signed a contract to move from Canberra to a Brand new Franchise, the Auckland Warriors in 1995, and got cold feet , the governing body at the time,the ARL, ensured that a young Rubin spent 12 long months on the side lines, before allowing him to continue playing for Canberra the following year.Ironically he ended up playing for the Warriors 10 years later.
A similar plight was taken by a young Gorden Raging bull Tallis, in 1996. Having signed a contract to play for Brisbane in 1996, Gorden was not given release by St George for the final year of his contract, Gorden subsequently decided to sit the season out rather than contribute to the fight for the REDV.
if it is true , IMO it will be a costly mistake on Mateos behalf, and if its not true, it just goes to show what legths some people will go to , to make up bullshit!
