  • I wonder if this is Brown's manager boosting his price? He has a bit of work to do on the field first.

Good to see the club protecting their junior base, but we can't become complacent.
    • I think the club is going to be making a decision on Brown when they see more of him at a higher level this year. Clubs can't begin negotiating with him until November next year. Meaning we have all season to decide if he is worth a long term investment.

Don't forget, this kid has only played 5 ISP games. Yes, he's killed it at junior levels but we know how that can go. 2019 will likely see him playing in Wenty full time with a development contract given he's listed on the Eels site with the first grade squad.

      • Agreed. I can't believe the rumours that other clubs are looking to sign him on massive coin. As you say he needs to be thrust into the NRL to see how he performs on the big stage, and to develop his game further.

      • You are right super but the games he did play for Wendy this year were very promising from a future point of veiw

        • So were Luke Kelly’s at the same age

          • And Michael witt....

        • The thing about this kid is that he has played above his age in amassing these quality performances. I agree that many kids in the past have looked outstanding when facing players under the basis of age restriction. When Dylan played in the U20 GF he was only 17 (I think) and leading the team around. My assumption is he was the youngest on the field.

Having said all of that it does not guarantee NRL success and it is madness to think that it does. I am confident that he will make his NRL debut this year. There is no need to rush him but it is important to get a look at him under NRL pressure.

I applaud the Eels direction in becoming a development club. To be a success with this approach means that there will need to be some very well considered decisions made on who to keep and who to left drift away. They will not always make the correct decisions but the best that they can hope for is to get the vast majority correct.

          • bernie  has only made that statement after the review, who needs gurr to take that to the press , in the past they have not.

  • He can tell them to back off all he likes but until he puts something material on the table to Brown it’s just talk
    • He has said that Brown is signed untill the end of 2020 thats 2yrs and rival clubs are not supposed to approach players that far out .i know it happens but at least he is telling clubs he is ours and we will be doing everything to keep him .what you dont think he and the powers that be will be doing their . upmost to keep this kid .it was also reported that Brain Smith and Peter Sullivan were seen in the kids ear earlier this year and it looks like parra have jumped on it  at guess i would say the club will be working very hard behind the scenes to ensure everything possible is done to lock him up plus the other players they want at our club .so how do you know that putting  something material on the table is not underway .i dont  but at least this statement is a step in the right direction and we wont give in without a fight

"Love the input HOE and very well said. Pops your spot on with a lot of what your suggesting, and Coryn nails it as well.
I was oblivious to Lomax beating to his own drum, oblivious to the suggestion he wasn't a team first guy.
There are points made…"
