Manly up the chase for Gutherson

The Mole: Dylan Walker on outer at Manly as club lines up Clint Gutherson return

Dylan Walker has been cleared of assault charges and will be back on the field soon - but the mail is he won’t be at Manly next year.

Walker hasn’t been a success on or off the field since joining Manly from Souths on a massive contract at the start of 2016.

While he is now free to play again, the club isn’t happy with his attitude and despite being an Origin and Test player, he has yet to be offered a contract for 2020.

Manly will put his money to good use, throwing it into the kitty to bring local junior Clint Gutherson home.

Gutherson has been one of the form players of the opening rounds of the premiership.

His price tag will be around $800,000 per season, but his ability to play just about any position in the backline and clean-cut image makes him worth the cash.

  • Haha good luck with this try   ...if walker is approved to play then manly would have to sack him and payout. I thought they had cap woes? But Dessie is a magician with making caps disappear.

  • The Mole is exactly a Mole and a pain in my backside.

He's taken information that we already know and trying to make a story of it

  • Let him go and he can take Brad Arthur with him

  • If Gutho goes so be it, i wish him well.

DWZ or Drinkwater next Eels fullback.

As Gal stated last night Gutho is a average to good player, and is no champion. And could be easily replaced.

    Guess we,ll know Saturday morning.

    • Drinkwater would be a great signing. Imagine we got him cheap too. Wow, that would be nice. He was ready to take over from Slater until he got injured.

      1 - Drinkwater

      3 - DWZ

      7 - Brown

      9 - Mahoney

  • Now it's $800k per season. Was this written by Ayoub?

    • I thought this too lol

  • If Gutherson goes ba can fellow but i hope we keep Gutherson

  • Good luck on that Brookie surface with those knees

  • Salary Cap - Ha

If reports end up true, and Gutho goes.

Dessie dosnt go by salary caps, the new contract will be heavily back ended in the 4th/ 5th year, and if Dessie stays true to form he will leave or sack Gutho at the end of the 3rd / 4th year. He has done it so many times before with other players and the club suffers in the 3rd to 5th years progressively. Just ask the Bulldogs.
