What will come of this if nrl can not obtain the computers and phones?
Also can the nrl issue fines and punishment for not complying with investigation, similar to when dont do breath test for police when driving, you get hit with high range drink driving. I think if the NRL threaten manly with punishment as if they are rorting the cap as it is obvious they are hiding something they may relent and give up computers. In the least this is giving them time to replace any computers with incriminating evidence or get computer experts to wipe and copy over any information.
THE NRL’s salary cap investigation into the Manly Sea Eagles has hit a stumbling block with the club refusing to hand over computers and mobile phone records.
Integrity unit investigators seized player-payment paperwork earlier this week but have been unable to obtain computer hard drives or mobile phones as they did with the Parramatta Eels investigation.
Lawyers for both Manly and the NRL have been in talks all day about the stand-off.
As a privately owned business, the Sea Eagles are standing firm and insist the NRL have no rights to inspect all their private financial records.
However under NRL rules the integrity unit has the power to access laptops, computer hard drives, and phones.
Manly chairman Scott Penn has confirmed Sea Eagles officials requested the league complete the salary cap matter quickly as they strongly deny any wrongdoing.
At least two club officials have been offered immunity over any possible breaches if they come forward with information.
Penn says the club would do whatever it took to clear its name, stressing cap claims are “unfair” and “frustrating”.
“We met with Todd Greenberg and Nick Weeks [Tuesday] and said, ‘look we are keen to wrap this up quickly’, so come down [Wednesday],” Penn said.
“We asked them to come in and as far as we are concerned it is all part of the due process. There is speculation out there, which they (the NRL) are investigating.
“They wouldn’t be investigating for no reason. There are obviously some whispers, but we believe we’ve complied with the cap at all times.
“Therefore we have said we’ll show you our paper work, you can go through the contracts and everything.
“As far as we are concerned we’ve complied. They (the NRL) were very pleased that we are happy to work with them.”

We need strong administration to take stand this time and stop the rot by making new rules and guidelines
Manly are benfitting from being privately owned.
If parra were then they could have done the same thing and no points would have been lost (assuming they kept the right things out of the hands of the NRL)
If nothing comes from these investigations it won't be because the nrl targetted Parra any more then they did Manly nor will it mean Manly is innocent.
It will just show how ineffectual the salary cap investigators are if they are not handed cheaters on a silver platter
what a joke
As someone has already said, unless a whistleblower gives up incriminating evidence to the nrl, then the nrl is completely powerless to truly ever uncover cheating. It's beyond a joke.
