Manly fans boo because they demand excellence at all times.
We on the other hand settle for poor performances and spoons. Players stay in their confort zones and play the same crap week after week.
Different mentality at the Northern shores.
Parramatta v Canberra (circa 1989). Parra down 0-26 (or something like that) at half time. The boos from the Parra faithful as they walked to the sheds was long, loud and clear. The second half...... well that's another story.
Was that the game Don Price led the fightback to an unlikely Parra victory? Best game ever if so.
Edit -Just looked up Don Prices career and he wasn't playing then so not the game I was thinking of.
Sure it was not Bob Linder (spelling ) 22/2 half time
I think that was when Dad stacked the ride on
I find it interesting regarding fans booing there own team. There are two fields of thought here.
1. Never boo, always support. These fans believe that booing their team when they're playing poorly only hurts them more. They believe in continuously supporting their side whatever the scoreline. They're also likely to be seen still in their seats at full time.
2. I can boo them because I pay. These fans believe they can boo their own team if they're playing poorly as they pay to see their side. Often they'll be spotted sidling out of the ground 5-10 minutes prior to full time.
Nothing wrong with booing a team that deserve it even if its your own team, its one of the oldest things in sport.
Exactly.
A fan who is paying deserves to vent his feelings.
When you go to a restaurant and your meal is poor, you complain dont you? Why should the footy be any differant.
