Maika Sivo in talks with a move to Leeds

Maika Sivo looks set to link up with former coach Brad Arthur at Leeds, the two are in discussions to have Parramatta's 4th all time leading scorer travel to the blue and gold of English Rugby League. Leeds are keen to offload Paul Momirovski to get the deal done, with a quota of overseas players could be a reason for them wanting him to move on. Would Parramatta take Momirovski? Doubt it unless it is for depth purposes.

Added to this is the news of Marcelo Montoya being released from the final year of his deal with the Warriors to head back to Canterbury where his career started. Montoya is expected to replace Josh Addo-Carr who the Dogs are trying to offload. With this signing, it could reopen the door for Parramatta to pursue Blake Wilson as a Sivo replacement.

With the news of Clint Gutherson being given permission to look at other alternatives, the possibility of him moving in 2025 is real, with Sivo going too it must be apparent that a deal for a back or two is already done? Would Ryles let Sivo walk if another deal is not set?

As far as it stands, if both Sivo and Gutho go here is the backline perhaps:

1. Iongi

2. TBA

3. Penisini

4. Lomax

5. Simonsson (wont be fit for Round 1 more likely).

Likes of Russell, Dunster and Tago the other Wingers contracted to take that spot does not fill us with confidence. Even if Richard Penisini or we sign Joash Papli'i, those two are inexperienced it is not ideal. Wilson, though inexperienced, has still played a handful of FG games and can offer a fair bit of speed and versitility. But if not Wilson, then who? The market is slim.

In Ryles i trust but honestly a bit concerned if there is nobody lined up ready to sign.

  • I'll chip in Sivo's freight...

    • Seems like we are anyway. The thing is people are complaining about who we are moving on yet not a lot of clubs seem to be lining up for them, or at least for the demands in which they feel entitled to. Could it be we are in the right mindframe to move them?

If we do have a Winger lined up, wishful thinking but i believe we would, then this is a good move.

      • I'm hoping Wilson from the doggies

        • I'm hoping it's Fa'alogo from Storm

          • Wont happen with Iongi here.

        • Montoya just signed with the dogs so no way Wilson gets into the squad. Maybe he's already agreed and that's why they got montoya

    • Let's create a gofundme site to chip in for Sivo's reunion with BA.

Given the speed of the game and Penrith blueprint to success, Sivo is no longer required. He doesn't have the motor nor the work rate required. Every team needs hard working back 5 with a motor to carry the ball back from their backfield. That is what they do at Penrith so their forward pack can have a rest and plodders back halfway downfield, refreshed to take the final hit up and ready to defend the middle with such ferocity and line speed, whilst their backs take their turn for a breather. It is literally like NFL style of play, attacking team and defending team on rotation.
That is why set-for-set or the more minutes the ball is in play, they will always come out on top.

  • I got a feeling we will end up with the fox. Parra wouldn't be letting these players go or willing to unless we have someone to replace them with. Fox or Wilson is my guess

    • I'd be happy with either.

    • Wilson yes, but there's already been multiple news articles saying Parra said they're not pursuing the Fox.
