Maika Sivo in talks with a move to Leeds

Maika Sivo looks set to link up with former coach Brad Arthur at Leeds, the two are in discussions to have Parramatta's 4th all time leading scorer travel to the blue and gold of English Rugby League. Leeds are keen to offload Paul Momirovski to get the deal done, with a quota of overseas players could be a reason for them wanting him to move on. Would Parramatta take Momirovski? Doubt it unless it is for depth purposes.

Added to this is the news of Marcelo Montoya being released from the final year of his deal with the Warriors to head back to Canterbury where his career started. Montoya is expected to replace Josh Addo-Carr who the Dogs are trying to offload. With this signing, it could reopen the door for Parramatta to pursue Blake Wilson as a Sivo replacement.

With the news of Clint Gutherson being given permission to look at other alternatives, the possibility of him moving in 2025 is real, with Sivo going too it must be apparent that a deal for a back or two is already done? Would Ryles let Sivo walk if another deal is not set?

As far as it stands, if both Sivo and Gutho go here is the backline perhaps:

1. Iongi

2. TBA

3. Penisini

4. Lomax

5. Simonsson (wont be fit for Round 1 more likely).

Likes of Russell, Dunster and Tago the other Wingers contracted to take that spot does not fill us with confidence. Even if Richard Penisini or we sign Joash Papli'i, those two are inexperienced it is not ideal. Wilson, though inexperienced, has still played a handful of FG games and can offer a fair bit of speed and versitility. But if not Wilson, then who? The market is slim.

In Ryles i trust but honestly a bit concerned if there is nobody lined up ready to sign.

    • Yeh I feel a bit the same too ....although it's hard to know w sivo

BA was not a good tactical coach and I don't think he even got the best out of players skill sets or refining / changing any weak technique ....

Some players deserve a chance at a decent coach ...

      • It's about getting his body right all up.

He has been busted for a while and it shows on the park most games.
He can't turn quickly and his support play is inept due to his lack of speed.

For the winger coin he is on, he needs to reemploy his game from three plus years ago.

If he can not run with gusto he must go!

    • 100% agree.

I just don't get why there is so much hate for Sivo yet everyone is all in on Simonsson.

He is worse defensively on the wing than Sivo, gets driven back when he runs and can't score tries like Sivo.

Everyone goes on about Sivo not scoring long range tries but no one else in the backline does either.

I just find it ridiculous to get rid of the one guy who scores over 10 tries a season.

      • Im in the camp of defending both Sivo and Simonsson BEM haha.

  • Remember grothe Sr

    Now that's a winger

    • Right on! The greatest of all time!

  • Time to move on Sivo!

    Still no comparison to Semi!

    • Better try scoring rate than Semi.

      • Sivo does have better halves, but i still defend to score that much you have to be good.

      • minus every other attribute that's makes a good footballer
