Maika Sivo in talks with a move to Leeds

Maika Sivo looks set to link up with former coach Brad Arthur at Leeds, the two are in discussions to have Parramatta's 4th all time leading scorer travel to the blue and gold of English Rugby League. Leeds are keen to offload Paul Momirovski to get the deal done, with a quota of overseas players could be a reason for them wanting him to move on. Would Parramatta take Momirovski? Doubt it unless it is for depth purposes.

Added to this is the news of Marcelo Montoya being released from the final year of his deal with the Warriors to head back to Canterbury where his career started. Montoya is expected to replace Josh Addo-Carr who the Dogs are trying to offload. With this signing, it could reopen the door for Parramatta to pursue Blake Wilson as a Sivo replacement.

With the news of Clint Gutherson being given permission to look at other alternatives, the possibility of him moving in 2025 is real, with Sivo going too it must be apparent that a deal for a back or two is already done? Would Ryles let Sivo walk if another deal is not set?

As far as it stands, if both Sivo and Gutho go here is the backline perhaps:

1. Iongi

2. TBA

3. Penisini

4. Lomax

5. Simonsson (wont be fit for Round 1 more likely).

Likes of Russell, Dunster and Tago the other Wingers contracted to take that spot does not fill us with confidence. Even if Richard Penisini or we sign Joash Papli'i, those two are inexperienced it is not ideal. Wilson, though inexperienced, has still played a handful of FG games and can offer a fair bit of speed and versitility. But if not Wilson, then who? The market is slim.

In Ryles i trust but honestly a bit concerned if there is nobody lined up ready to sign.

  • Hell yes.

Thanks Maika. Some amazing moments especially 2019-2022.

  • It makes sense to let both Gutho and Sivo leave. It frees up $1.5M. If this money is spent wisely, I am sure we could afford Mulitalo $600k, Thompson $450k, Brailey $300k and J. Papalii $200k. I am sure there would be some left in the kitty with RCG and the rest gone.

    A backline of

    Iongi

    Mulitalo

    Penisini

    Zac

    Simmonson

would give us some much needed speed.

Even JAC or Wilson instead of Mulitalo would be an improvement.

    • Mulitalo has signed with the dogs so he's not an option.

Even if we were to sign JAC or Wilson, you still have a bigger issue of Simonsson on the other wing.

      • Montoya you mean?

        • Sorry LB.

          You are correct.

I got my Mulitalo's mixed up with my Montoya's.

  • I don't think that Sivo would be guaranteed a starting spot at Leeds. They already have wingers, Ash Handley one of the wingers, scored 14 tries in 18 games this season. They also still have David Fusitu'a on the other wing.
