Carlo, thank god you returned from Soddam and Gomorra unscathed. Four killed in the Dreamland. What I saw on the TV was all rustered corrugated -iron coverings. Needs to be demolished forthwith. No kids involved thank heavens. Thinking of going up there an doing some fishing on the river. No bunny jumping for me !

I heard something about this, tragic stuff, did the pirate ship fall off its hinge, every time i ever went on it i felt like i was going to fall out.
Why not wait until there is some clarity on how those people have tragically lost there their lives, it is also unconfirmed that the the couples kids may of been on the ride as well but were thrown clear or were to small and didn't get stuck.
I think they put rusted corrugated iron on the building to create a theme, an old building. What we didn't understand was that the equipment also belonged to the 19th century which probably caused the accident.
The rapids ride that was in the incident has been there from the beginning of Dreamworld, while its been a fair few years since my family and I went on it, it really was a great ride, was in the early 90's that we were there and each year we would go up for holidays.
There are IIRC around 6 seats on the round raft that has large rubber like tubes or similar around the outside to cushion everyone as it went through the ride, initially in downhill rapids, a bumpy but enjoyable ride also in the main part of the ride specically the water part there was no link conveyor on that part of the ride as the water was sufficient in its run to keep the rafts moving, all were sent out in set time intervals.
The last section of the ride had you come out of the water and go up in an rack like track set up to a pinnacle, where the rack took you over the peak and then you went down the other side on rollers through a tunnel and then into a water pool, near the get off wharf.
The outside iron is actually treated to make it look rusty in order to give it some atmosphere of an old loggers ride. Thing was that I found it great as did the family, my wife is terrified of some rides but loved that one, as it was great on hot days and you got a lot of water spray.
Thing was I always found that some people on that ride and other ones there tried to rock the rafts especially in some of the rough rapids bit ---- Not saying the people who tragically died were doing that--- But, thing is not many rides at theme and fun parks are not open to people creating dangers for others and them selves many warnings are in place for that.
One thing with Dreamworld an the others is they are vigorously monitored for safety and such things as the rafts are also replaced and spares are always there in case of a problem.
As I say, it was really a very safe ride and sad to see this happen.
Yes,. that is good information but was some time ago. In the newspapers today there is some suggestion of a maintenance problem before the fatal ride. An inquiry will surely sort that out.
I just saw the news and seems there was an empty "doughnut" as they call them in stopped off the rack and the one with the deceased ran into it, seems that has tipped the full doughnut upside down.
OH&S is investigating and it is also said the ride had passed safety inspection a few days before.
