Lot of luck involved in an nrl season.

Just looking at the ladder and recent results, bulldogs raiders both had strong seasons last year and now look horrible and languishing at the bottom of the table. Yes recruitment and coaching is imporant but you also need a hell of a lot of luck with draw, bounce of ball and injury. I think considering everything that has gone wrong for us in first 10 rounds Ryles has done well. Ciraldo and Ricky not so much 😂

      • What a disaster.  I reckon the players still resent Galvin coming in like a ring in

        • Bloody oath they do. Plus with them going for Metcalf, nobody is safe. How can they feel connected when Gus treats the team as a restaurant owner who changes the menu every month.

          • They're not chasing Metcalf he's going to the Dragons

            • They did chase him. If you read papers you would see they did. They pulled out due to price he was asking for.

          • I think they are paying the price for continually messing with their spine. Being too clever for their own good by fixing something that wasn't broken, and in doing so destabilising all players by loving a series of players, then throwing them away for no reason other than being enamoured with the next shiny toy. With the disrespect they've shown to a number if players who played well for them, why would any player feel safe there. Gould and ciraldo might love you now, but that could change at any moment and you're out the door so fast your head spins. I don't think there's a lot challenging the status quo there - gould and ciraldo are in lockstep, and noone is going to suggest what they're doing isn't working. Ciraldo himself says he wants players that fit his system, and if they don't they're gone. Sounds like a lack of critical thinking going on in this particular echo chamber on whether the system needs to change rather than the players. The way the game is being played has change, and their system hasn't been adapted. They are also suffering from a lack of speed, just like the dragons. And yeah i agree with the observation that gould and ciraldo are too arrogant atm to question whether they are going about things in the most effective way.

            • I think Ego is their biggest problem...wonder how long until Arthur Laundy pulls up stumps

            • That's it Fishbulb. They tried to be too clever. Thinking "Yeah we have a great team where we might need a forward, but what if we went for this star player when not needed?"

  • Do you make your own luck, or does some form of football god decide the luck. Interesting topic Eli.

    • Most of the teams play the exact same style of footy so I think a lot of it comes down to luck and the whistle. Most nrl sides very similar with structures

    • Some teams have to make their own luck, others have it handed to them. The general population know which teams fall into which category.

"Great write-up, HOE. A lot of interesting info.
It’s unlikely the Storm will give us 18 errors like the Cowboys, so becomes even more imperative to not give away 6-agains and enter longer death zones?

Might be naive but I feel the Eels are going…"
