Lot of luck involved in an nrl season.

Just looking at the ladder and recent results, bulldogs raiders both had strong seasons last year and now look horrible and languishing at the bottom of the table. Yes recruitment and coaching is imporant but you also need a hell of a lot of luck with draw, bounce of ball and injury. I think considering everything that has gone wrong for us in first 10 rounds Ryles has done well. Ciraldo and Ricky not so much 😂

  • The cream usually rises to the top Eli. Diligent recruitment, player development,  coaching and strength and fitness are big factors.  Id give luck less than 10% of most teams success in any season.  I do believe the club is on a winner with Ryles.  He's doing a fine job considering the roster and a huge injury toll.

    • It's a balance yeah, but a team like raiders dogs last season is more about luck then anything. The classy teams but you right will just be near top

      • Raiders had Fogherty last season, very underrated player & general, they're now running two very inexperienced (albeit talented) halves.

        • Fogherty has also got Manly humming along at the moment. Pity he got homesick and left us when he did. Very calming influence on those around him

          • Fogarty left us in 2017 but wasn't a first grader until 2020. He's a very late bloomer. Did you know he's older than Mitch Moses?

            • He played 2first grade games for the titans in 2017 after he was called up from Burley after he left us

            • Yeah, I was aware of his age. The age of footballers has had less of an impact than say 30 years ago. Players left to get real jobs back then. Being in a professional environment has definitely increased the retirement age. Halfbacks are definitely playing on longer than other positions on the field

          • The Fog never got the chance to to play 1st Grade with us . Only played for wenty didn't get homesick was just sick of not even getting a shot at 1st grade was just not given a go By  BA

            • Either way, he never got to develop with us. I think he'd be perfect for Moses at the moment. Moses came back to us as a 5/8, and developed into a halfback. I classify Moses as a running halfback. I still think with his running game and speed, he'd be a great 5/8. Having a Fogarty organising beside him would open Moses up even more.

    • Lot of pats on back for Ciraldo last few years now look at the place

"I think it's quiet clear that eels don't think Volkman is the long term 6 so he probably wants that role in the super league. Fletcher will be the halfback in nsw cup next year. So will need a back up 6 next year and hopefully experienced."

"Adam I know you're being intentionally obtuse. Galvin is being played out of position. That is why he isn't playing well.
We were intending to play Galvin in position. Where by all historical data he is extremely talented.

"Volkman speed is not the issue. It's his defence. A good defensive game for him means he stil leaks a try or a break. There are plenty of 6s in the game with Volkman speed that are guns "
